From Aysgarth Public Records regarding the marriage of John PLUMPTON and Jane ELLIOTT :
"...both of Thoralby after banns publlished. John PLUMPTON, cordwainer,
and Jane ELLIOTT, spinster were married in this church by banns this 6th day of
October 1806 by me H. H. Wood. In the presence of A. Drummond and G.
Rider." He signed his own name, she gave her mark.
He is alive for the 1851 census and is listed with his family as follows:
