Chapter Three

"What do you mean?" Justin asked, her trying to hide the defense and pure confusion overtaking his voice.

"Oh what's the matter Jacob?" She said walking away, aiding to one of the infants. The conversation was soon dropped. Justin brought it up once more, only for the answer to remain unknown. He wasn't sure why Alysaa had said that, and now why she avoided answering his questions. But, he was determined to find out.

"So, Alyssa. Are you from here? I noted a little bit of a northern twang in your voice," Justin wondered, the corners of his mouth tugging at a smile.

"Yeah, I am from New York. I haven't lived here long at all," She told him.

"Look Alyssa, I know we just met and all. But I was wondering if you would like to maybe go out some time. To dinner, and a movie. Or clubbin or something?"

"Um, as tempting as that is Justin. I don't think that's a very good idea,"

"Why not?" He asked, surprised at his own boldness.

"Why? Well, to start with we are totally opposite people, with totally different outlooks on things. Two, you travel around the world! And three I'm not looking, or interested in any type of a relationship right now," Alyssa explained.

"I didn't ask you to marry me, I just wanted to know if you were interested in maybe dinner or something!" Justin rolled his eyes, trying not to laugh.

"I don't think so, still Justin. Its not a good idea. trust me," she answered.

"Why?" He asked again.

"Ugh! Justin I already told you no. Sorry, but my answer is still no!"

"Alyssa, how about this? It isn't even a date. We can go out, go do something with the guys. Just to hang out. It doesn't have to be just you and me, I have these four friends who I am sure would love to go out. Now what do you say?"

"You are one stubborn man Justin Timberlake. I guess so. How about Tuesday night? Is that good with you?" She asked.

"Perfect!"

(Tuesday 5:30)

Alyssa looked in the mirror one last time, straightening her shirt. Grabbing her sneakers in one hand, and her car keys in the other she hurried out the door, and down the stairs. Stepping into a 1999 silver eclipse. A gift, that she hated stepping into every time. Just for the thought of where it came from. Adjusting her rear view mirror she backed out, and headed for the front of the church where she was to meet Justin. When she got there, she already saw Justin standing aside a black jeep. Four other guys occupying him.

"Hey Justin," She smiled, walking up to him.

"Hey, you look great," He complimented, leaning against the side of the car.

Alyssa was wearing light denim jeans, with a white spaghetti strap shirt. Over it she had a navy blue, and yellow cover up. Her dark curls were pulled up, in a bun. The curls appearing at the top. Two wisps of hair framed her cheeks. Wearing no makeup, only a gloss on her lips she looked casual, yet very nice, and attractive.

"Dang boy! You never told me she was so cute!" Chris shouted. Justin laughed, Alyssa blushing a little.

"Alyssa Taylor. It's nice to meet you," She smiled shaking his hand.

"Chris," He introduced, shaking hers back. The other guys introduced themselves as well.

"Alright. Well, whata ya say we get going?" Alyssa asked.

"Sure," JC told her.

"Alyssa, you wanna ride with me and Lance in my car?" Justin asked.

"UH, thats ok. I can take my own car," She decided walking in the opposite direction of his vehicle.

"OK," He mumbled, stepping into his red Mercedes. He pulled out of the parking lot, JC with the other guys, and ALyssa following him. He led them to a small park, overlooking a lake. Getting out of the car he walked over to one of the benches and took a seat.

"Justin, why are we at a park?" Alyssa couldn't help but ask.

"Well, you stressed that it wasn't a date, and its not. Don't worry. Me and the guys are gonna play football, you can do whatever you want. And then we will go around the lake, and eat the picnic I packed," Justin explained.

"I see. That's sounds great. But why cant I play football with you and the guys?" She asked.

"I didnt think you'd want to. This isn't any two hand touch football either."

"I didnt think it was. Now, can I play?"

"I guess so. I am gonna warn you though. We don't play little girl sports, the guys can get pretty rough," He said, laughing a little.

"I get the point. Justin, now I am ready. It'll make the teams even anyway," She told him walking over to a large grassy area.

The guys joined her, and Justin. As they picked their teams, Alyssa got picked last. And was on a team with JC, and Chris. She paid close attention, Joey had the ball, she ran for him, as were the other guys. Justin tackling JC. And Lance, was trying to get Chris. Alyssa came up from the side, Joey not even trying to avoid her.

Alyssa knew that the guys didn't take her as much of a threat in the game, so with all her might she charged at Joey. Tackling him to the ground. Once she was sure he was down she stood up, and brushed off her pants.

"Whoa Joey! Got taken down by a girl!" JC yelled.

Joey shot him a nasty look and just glanced at Alyssa who was smiling to herself. They continued the game until the score was tied. Alyssa was running, it was their fourth down. Going for a touch down to end the game. She inched closer, and closer. Dodging Lance, Joey, and Justin's chasing figures. She was almost there when she felt a strong body push her down from behind. Struggling she felt him press her body down into the grass. She didn't know who it was, but he was heavy. Atleast 2 times as much as her. Not before making sure she was down, he stood up releasing the heavy pressure from her back. Alyssa rolled over and saw Justin standing over her. He had tackled her. Justin lending out a hand to help her up, was denied when she looked past it, standing up on her own. Two grass stains patched her knees. Wiping off the dirt that streaked her face, and covered her shirt she looked over at the rest of the guys, joining them. Beads of sweat were evident on her face, and she wiped them off with the tail of her shirt. Exposing part of her well toned stomach.

"Good game guys," She smiled patting Lance on the back.

"Yeah, it was. But are you OK?" Justin asked, coming to her side.

"Of course. Why wouldn't I be?" She said walking further ahead. He smiled, a small laugh escaping his mouth. She really was different from every other girl he had met.
