He flug his bookbag over his left shoulder, slammed his locker, and walked off. Going to meet up with his friends, I guessed. It wasn't until Erin said something that I snapped out of drool mode.
"Steph!" she yelled, an inch away from my ear.
"Oh, hi," I said back.
"Did you see Mystery Man again, or are you just in one of those Monday morning dazes?"
"A little bit of both."
"If you don't talk to him, I will!"
"Hell no you are not!" I said back quickly.
"Oh, COME ON! You two would be so cute togeter! You're short and he's tall and -"
"Like it would ever happen!"
"You'll never know till you try..."
"Girl, just quit while you're ahead. I'm not talking to him and neither are you!"
"Oh you're no fun anymore, you know that?"
"I'm no fun? Excuse me, who soved the chopsticks up your nose at you're 16th birthday party?"
"Okay, so maybe you are fun...fun, yet very hard-headed."
"I am, so sue me!" I laughed.
The bell rung, sending everyone scattering. "Well, I'll see you in Art," I said with a sigh.
"Aight, bye!"
"Bye."
The day was fairly normal. Normal, but slow. English was 1st period, then World History second, after that Algebra 3, Visual Arts 4th, lunch, citizenship, and chemistry last. I always looked foward to lunch because Erin, Lanie, and Mystery Man were all in my lunch.
At the end of the day after the 2:30 bell, I headed for my locker to get my books. To my surprise, he was there. He was usually long gone before I got there.
I had a ton of homework, so I started stacking all my books on my arms. The stack got to be to heavy after the 3rd text book and 3rd folder, and all 6 items slipped out of my arms and onto the floor. "Damn," I sighed, bending down to pick them up.
"Here, let me help you with those," came a voice. I looked up. He was kneeling down, but still managed to tower above me. It was him.
"Um, uh...thanks," I managed to choke out as he set some of the books into my bag. I always stumbled on my words when I got nervous.
"You're welcome!" He smiled. I was in Heaven for what seemed like hours, but realistically was only seconds.
"Nick!" one of his friends yelled. "Would you get your scrawny little ass over here!? There's about 10 chicks out at my car, and they're all askin' for you, so come on!"
"Uh...bye," he said slowly, getting up and quickly running off.
Nick. Nick...Nick. I said his name over and over to myself, engraving it into my brain. I shoved the last of my books into my bag and headed out to the Mitshubishi 3000 GT I had just recently bought. I started up the car, imedietly finding something good on the radio to listen too. Hmm...106.9...Nirvana? Sounds good to me! When I got home I threw my book bag on my bed andturned on my radio. I couldn't go a second without music. I tried my hardest to actually focus on my homework, but it was useless. I was to busy thinking about Nick. I finished every last assignment around 2 hours later and just chilled out for the rest of the night. I got every Monday off from my horrific job at Just For Feet restocking shoes in the back of the store and ocassionally hepling the costomers find what theyw were looking for, so those were my lazy days. I sat around, watched TV, and talked on the phone all night. And since I worked weekdays, I got Saturdays and Sundays off, which was pretty handy when one of my buds threw a big party.
I called Erin, and we talked for about 45 minutes until I got in the shower. After I got out I watched about an hour of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Aire, and hit the sack.
