I realize the majority of Crow sites on the net focus on the movie of The Crow.  I will devote some space to that, but truth be known, the comic was first, the comic was last and the Comic is Best.   So most of the space here will be devoted to the comic.

The Crow reached me in a way that caught me off Guard.   I had loved Comics for years, but when I read James O'Barr's Crow it mentally made me drop to my knees in amazement and raw emotion.  It reaches to those who have lost someone  precious, even if that someone is yourself.   Being a survivor of a very traumatic event as a teen, and having had many sad things impact me deeply, The Crow seemed like the first person, real or imaginary who could understand me.  Eric (draven was a last name added solely for the movie) had lost  something he could not replace, and that loss haunted him to the grave, from which he took revenge on those who caused his loss.  I guess I, like many others, felt a sense of vicarious justice for the things I'd seen, through Eric.  Then I thought, I wonder if there will ever be a Female Crow, Sure enough, there is.   There are 5 series of the crow.  The first is to me the most Dramatic.   Also it is the one that the movie is based upon, and that Brandon Lee So sadly lost his life during the production of.  There is a part of Brandon's spirit that remains forever immortal because it is in that movie.crow1.gif (8453 bytes)

I realize that The Crow was written as an outlet for the Author.  But for so many others it has become a way of life, a chance to free themselves.  The movie reached a whole new audience and got the story out even further.  To that I am eternally Grateful.  Mr. Lee Did a great job with the script he was given and his light shines brightly.

The Second Crow Movie, although created solely for film, then to comic form, I feel gets shortchanged alot.  As a tale, it is beautiful and well written.  Just because it is not a standard sequel, don't discount it, go see it and be open minded, the beauty and cinematography will wash over you like the waves of the ocean if you let it, and you will find yourself swimming along inside a deeply magical and beautiful tale.

And just Remember, The Crow Doesn't only bring men back to seek justice, no The Crow believes in equal opportunity revival.  After all a woman's spirit can experience unrest just like a man's.

The soundtracks for both of The Crow movies were exceptionally done.  And the scoring was even better.  I was thrilled to see 2 of my favorite bands on the first Crow sound Track: The Cure and Nine Inch Nails.   The Crow has helped many and revealed more to others.  Thank You James O'Barr For sharing your pain so the rest of us could heal.
