The Excordis Domain

Welcome to the Excordis Theatre Company's homepage. Here you'll be able to find out info about current project as well as season dates for our next show. The Excordis Theatre Company has a commitment to exposing young talent (namely ourselves) and promoting this talent (please, for god's sake, come to our shows.) We based in Melboure, Australia with our cast and crew being aged between 16 and 20.

Our first show "Leading the Blind" was staged at the end of March 1999. Our first show was a huge success in opinion of both the audience and the company (hey its not like we needed much convincing). Leading the Blind ran over two nights and we two almost full houses and a great crowd response we walked away from our first show both artistically satisfied and not in financial ruin.

After completing Leading the Blind the company's confidence to the point where we believed that not only could we run our next show, "Was Hamlet a Junkie?" over a longer season (admittedly still only four shows) but we also believed in the show enough to have it included in the year 2000 Melbourne International Comedy festival. Again the show did well with both audience response and audience numbers but more importantly it was a much better developed and more polished piece than our first effort.

Excordis's good work continued and actually intensified in 2001 with a two week season at the comedy festival with our show 'Guerilla Film School' and a very successful appearance at the Maroondah Winter Arts Festival One Act Play Competition. We managed to win every award going in the youth section, including best overall production.

ATTENTION!!! ATTENTION!!! ATTENTION!!!

That's right girls and boys hold onto your earmuffs because Excordis is back at the comedy festival. In 2002 we will be performing Tom Stoppard's ballistically funny, 'The Real Inspector Hound' between 3-6 of April at the Cromwell Road Theatre. We decided on the limited season because prior to this show we are doing a couple evenings of theatre in the gardens on the 23rd and 24th of February. The evenings include picnics and nibblies and even complementary bubbly as well as two of George Bernhard Shaw's funniest short plays.

If businesses out there are looking to support young local talent, contact us! We are exceptionally pleased to announce that Coachwood Recruitment Services have already put forward a donation to support our next show, and we offer our extreme thanks to them.

We're also in the process of organising Excordis as an 'associated corporation', which means there will be several positions available on the committee.. we encourage all members to try for a position since it will make organising the next show a lot easier for everyone.
