The Hardest Thing Part 2
*Justin's POV*
I couldn't believe what I had just said...but I forgot all about it when she laughed. The way it rolled out of her body and danced across the air as though it were little elves dancing across snow.
The sound was so beautiful, full and smooth, and it seemed to envelope her entire body.
"Let's see, no, yes I wouldn't mind an ice tea and, yes," she smiled.
She had changed, she was wearing a pair of baggy flannel pants and a light blue tank top. Her long brown hair was down, not curled or anything, totally natural, but she looked stunning.
*Jamy's POV*
"Good," he smiled, his eyes were shinning so brightly, even though I could tell he was tired.
He was wearing a baggy, black Old Navy shirt, and a pair of dark blue, baggy jeans.
"You look amazing," he said, taking my hand. When he did, it started to shake, I don't understand why...maybe I was nervous, maybe I was scared...I don't know....his touch sent about a thousand little shock waves through my body, I lowered my head, not able to look him in the eyes. He massaged the palm of my hand, and the shaking calmed down.
"I need to ask you something," I said, looking up into his eyes. "Shoot," he said, taking my other hand. "Why did you lie to me?" I asked. "I can't explain it, but I know if we didn't break up then we wouldn't be here now," he said, tears filling both of our eyes.
My hands started to shake again, as the tears flooded my cheeks.
He kissed my hands, his lips were so soft and his kiss was so tender. "I'm sorry love," he said tenderly, his words were filled with more emotion than I had ever imagined escaping from his mouth.
*~*Chapter 5*~* *Jamy's POV*
I stared into his eyes, wanting so badly to kiss him. But, I couldn't. I couldn't push myself to that extent.
"So, you lied to me to prevent our relationship from destroying itself because of the distance?" I asked, I understood completely.
"Yes, I didn't want to let that happen," he said, leaning across the table, until our noses were nearly touching.
"Justin, we can't do this. I mean, if that's why you did it then, well, you're leaving soon to tour, we can't even begin to have a relationship," I said, pulling my hands away from his, and backing away from his softened face.
"Jamy, baby listen," he said, pulling my chin closer to him, "I was thinking about that during the show and I realized that I was wrong before. I know we would have never grown apart, because we are stronger than that, and we have a bond that could never be broken."
I just closed my eyes, 'what can I possibly do? stay with him? let him go?' I thought.
"When are you leaving? I need a day to think about this," I opened my eyes, looking into his that were only inches away.
"I'm leaving day after tomorrow," he said, moving back away from me.
*Justin's POV*
I got the reaction I preyed wouldn't come...she wasn't going to go back to the way things used to be that easily.
I could see in her eyes that she wanted to....but wanting and doing are totally different things.
"I understand," the words slid around my head like butter, I did understand, I just wish that I didn't have to.
*Jamy's POV*
"I'm sorry I have to put you in this kind of position," I said, tears sliding down my face, I wanted just to fall into his arms and be with him, have things the way things used to be....but it isn't always that simple. The flow of my tears seemed to stop as he spoke his next words, a slight smile came across my face as I remembered how persistent he had always been.
"It's OK...even if you won't be with me now, I'm not letting go of you that easily, I love you," Justin said, waving over a waitress.
"Hey Jamy, what are you doing here? and with...oh my goodness," Sarah, a friend of mine who was working the late shift, said.
"Well, we just needed to talk and I figured this was the best place to come," I smiled.
"Hey, I'm Just-.." Justin began but Sarah interrupted him. "in Tmberlake, I know hun," she laughed lightly. He offered his hand and she took it, a whole wave of nervousness overcame her but she pushed it aside.
"So, anyway, what can I get for you two?" Sarah asked, her blue eyes sparkled at me and I knew I was going to have to explain this to her.
"What I always get, a small mocha latte," I said, even though she already knew what I wanted.
"I guess I'll have the same," Justin said, Sarah wrote down the orders and left.
"I thought you were getting an iced tea," Justin smiled, only making me want to let him into my heart even more.
"Well, this is a coffee shop, besides I don't wanna confuse anyone by ordering something out of the ordinary," I laughed, curling my legs up into my seat.
"How do you know her?" Justin asked curiously. "Well, I met her when I started working here a few months ago," I said, as Sarah brought us our drinks.
"Thanx Sarah beara, tell Mike to let you off, he's got you worked to death around here...you're never gonna stop smelling like coffee!" I said and we both busted out laughing, it was an inside joke between us.
Justin looked at us slightly confused then pulled out his wallet. "How much is it?" he asked, pulling out some money. "Hun, I never make Jamy pay and she never makes me pay, plain and simple," Sarah smiled, walking away.
"You work here? That's good, it's a very nice place," Justin said sipping his latte.
"I pays really well, and they let me sing in here on the weekends, so it's all good," I smiled, my eyes became more and more heavy as I strived for some sleep.
"Are you singing in here tomorrow? I'd love to see you," Justin smiled, noticing the tiredness, he was tired as well considering it was 2 o'clock am.
"Yea, actually tomorrow night around 8ish," I said, fighting to keep my eyes open.
"Aww, honey, let me take you home," Justin said, picking up his latte. We walked out to his car.
"Where's your car? I could have someone take it home for you so you don't have to drive," Justin said leaning on his Mercedes...I got sick to my stomach thinking about how rich he must be now.
"I don't have a car Justin," I said, getting into his car and resting my head on the soft seat. Apparently he had forgotten about my and my mom's money condition, we didn't own a car.
"Oh, ok, still live in your apartment?" he asked, starting his car up. "Yuppers, same old place," I said. He, for some odd reason, loved that apartment...I hated it, it was only a sign reminding me and telling everyone how poor we were.
*Justin's POV*
I pulled into her apartment complex parking lot and realized that in that short drive, Jamy had fallen asleep. After I got out of the car, I opened her door and lifted her out.
I carried her up to her apartment and opened the door, it was unlocked which meant her mom was probably awake.
I found things nearly the same way they had always been, only they had a new kitchen table and it was moved over closer to the wall. Two years and for a split second I could have sworn nothing had changed. I laid her down on the couch, studying the ever so familiar apartment...this is where we spent most of our time.
I looked towards Jamy's mother's door and the light was on. I felt safe leaving her there, but I couldn't just walk out.
I pulled off her shoes, then I pulled off my shoes and squeezed next to her, remembering how routine this used to be.
I pulled her close to my body, and even though she was asleep there was an undeniable amount of electricity flowing between us.
Still asleep, she shifted herself until she was facing me and put one arm around my side. I stared at her, she looked so innocent but incredibly sexy. This seemed perfect, the way things always were...it was amazing to me, her arm always found the right spot to rest, and her body always found the perfect position to sleep.
I rested my forehead against hers and closed my eyes, I would see hell in the morning from my family for not coming home, but right then and there I could care less, I wasn't leaving her side until I knew for sure she was going to be mine always and forever.
*~*Chapter 6*~*
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
*Jamy's POV*
I woke up early the next morning, to find Justin sleeping next to me...oh, how I missed this. I just watched his steady breathing, wondering what he was thinking..what he was dreaming...
"Jamy, I am totally lost right now...Justin is right there sleeping next to you...," my mother, said, emerging from her room in a pair of pink sweatpants and a baggy T-shirt.
"I don't know if I understand mom, it's really confusing," I smiled, sitting up on the couch, which woke up Justin.
"Hey hun," he smiled sweetly, sitting up from the couch. "Hey," I said weakly. I leaned against him, the feeling between us was nearly indescribable.
"What do you have to do today?" I asked, looking up into his eyes. "Not much, a little rehearsal...kind of a last minute preparation type thing," he said.
"Oh, that's cool. What time? Maybe I could go," I smiled.'I am only making things more confusing,' I though to myself, as I received his reply.
"It starts at noon, and ends at 4," he answered. "Cool, I don't gotta be at work till 6," I said. "Good, then I can come bother you there," he laughed.
"Is it cool if I go get something to eat?" He asked, already getting up. "You know you don't hafta ask," my mom, said, standing at the kitchen doorway.
He walked towards her, a gentle look on his face, he had missed her as well.
I smiled at him as he walked away, a couple minutes later, I turned to find Justin and my mom hugging as if they were mother and son. I couldn't keep the smile off my face.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
*Justin's POV*
I got into the car with Justin, glad I didn't have to walk again, it was raining hard outside.
I ran inside the shop, glancing at the neon sign that had become so familiar.
"Well, have a seat, the place should start getting busy in about an hour and a half, so I would put on a hat to hide in a little while just in case," I smiled before running back behind the counter so I wasn't late.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
I sat in the back area alone, wondering what I was to do. I looked at the music that I had ready to play for tonight, only 2 songs but there was at least 75 people out there waiting, the whole place was packed to capacity, it was a very small shop.
Justin emerged from the swinging doors, a weird looking hat on his head. "Omgoodness, you look hilarious," I laughed, jumping up on to the counter.
He laughed lightly, taking off his hat.
I released my hair from the tight ponytail, and began brushing it.
*Justin's POV*
I watched her pull her hair out of the ponytail, allowing it to cascade down, like a thousand chocolate rivers pouring richly.
I walked towards her, standing between her legs that were sprawled down from the counter.
