The story is dumb,the deaths are disgusting,and the whole film just has this atmosphere that for some reason makes you want to puke.The ending is cool, though.Two stars out of five.Runtime:Approx. 97 minutes.28 kills.

Released in 1988.Produced by Moustapha Akkad and Paul Freeman. This is more like it.On the tenth anniversary of the series,Michael Myers returns.This time he's after Laurie's seven year old daughter Jamie Lloyd. The film starts with a doctor,a nurse,a driver,and a passenger in an ambulance headed to the Ridgemont,Illinois mental hospital to pick Michael up and transfer him back to Smith's Grove.In the ten years since Michael went after Laurie he has been in a coma.With the aid of Ridgemont's head doctor Doctor Hoffman the transfer personnel load Michael into the ambulance and head out on their way.As the ambulance drives through the pouring rain storm the doctor and nurse sit in the back with Michael and talk about him,mentioning Jamie. Michael awakens and attacks the doctor,slamming his head against the wall of the ambulance.The nurse screams and we switch to the livingroom of the Corruthers house,where Jamie is talking to her teenage foster sister Rachel. We find out that in the ten years between films Laurie got married and had Jamie,then died in a car crash along with her husband.Jamie was soon after adopted by the Corruthers.Lately,for some reason,Jamie has been having nightmares of the boogeyman,the nightmare man.She's been dreaming of Michael. Back in Ridgemont we meet Doctor Loomis again.He has scars from the fire at the end of Part 2 and he's a little nuttier,but it's still the same old doc. He's talking to Hoffman when a car comes in saying that the ambulance the transfer personnel was in was found crashed.Hoffman and Loomis head out to the crash site and find that the transfer personnel are dead and they haven't found Michael's body yet.Loomis heads for Haddonfield despite being told by Hoffman and the police that Michael probably died in the crash.Not too far away Michael walks into a auto shop that's connected to a gas station/ diner and impales a mechanic with a spike-looking thing.Soon after Loomis arrives to fill his gas tank.He goes into the diner and finds a dead waitress and sees Michael.Michael goes outside and steals a tow truck,causing the gas pumps and Loomis' car to explode on his way out.Loomis begins to walk toward Haddonfield.In Haddonfield we get to know Jamie and Rachel and meet other characters.Rachel's boyfriend is named Brady.He works at a pharmacy with Kelly Meeker,who's father is the sheriff,Sheriff Ben Meeker.Out on the road Loomis is picked up by an old reverend who says he's hunting armageddon.He and Loomis talk.A very good scene.Doesn't make you laugh out loud,but it does make you smile.That night,Jamie and Rachel go trick or treating.One of the houses they stop at is the Meeker house.They find Kelly and Brady there.Brady's cheating on Rachel.While Rachel's arguing with Brady Jamie wanders off with some other kids then gets lost.Michael stalks Rachel and Jamie as they try to find eachother.At the police station Loomis arrives and tells Sheriff Meeker that Michael is back.At a local power plant power worker "Bucky" is checking the equiptment when Michael comes up to him. Bucky threatens to call the cops and Michael tosses him against some stuff, causing him to get electrocuted to death and making the power go out all over town.Meeker and Loomis find Jamie and Rachel and pick them up.In a local bar it comes over the news that police want all businesses to shut down. The bar owner and a bunch of fat hillbillies head out to the police station to see what's happening.At the police station Meeker and Loomis find the mutilated bodies of three cops.The hillbillies arrive and Loomis tells them Michael's back,creating a gang of vigilantes.Meeker and Loomis head for Meeker's house,calling Deputy Logan to meet them there.At the house Brady and Kelly are just starting to have sex when the others arrive.Logan gets there and comes in,not knowing that Michael caught a ride in his backseat. Meeker,Logan,and Brady get shotguns.They lock the doors and bolt the windows, thinking they're locking Michael out when they're really locking him in with them.Out in town the vigilantes are cruising the streets when one of them sees something in the bushes.They hop out of their pickup and unload their rifles into the bushes.They go to the bushes to see that they shot Ted Hollister,obviously a friend or someone they knew.In the house Logan watches the front door.Brady locks the attic up.Kelly makes coffee.Jamie goes to sleep.Loomis leaves to go to the Corruthers house to look for Michael.Meeker calls the state police over a CB system in the basement. He leaves Rachel to wait for an answer after he hears that the vigilantes killed Ted.He leaves to go find them.Kelly finishes making the coffee and walks into the front room,going to give Logan some.She finds Logan's body in the corner and the man in the chair she thought was Logan stands up and turns out to be Michael holding Logan's shotgun.He impales her with the shotgun barrel,sticking her to a door.Rachel gets an answer from the state police,they should be there in 35 minutes.She goes upstairs to tell the others and finds their bodies.Brady comes up and they head upstairs when Michael begins to follow them.Jamie and Rachel go up into the attic and Brady stays behind to fight Michael.Michael grabs him by the throat and crushes his neck with one hand.A chase ensues,with Michael following Jamie and Rachel up onto the roof.Rachel falls off the roof but Jamie manages to escape and runs into Loomis on the street.They go to hide in the local elementary school but Michael finds them and throws Loomis through a glass door.Rachel arrives and saves Jamie just in time.They go outside and the vigilantes pick them up.As they head out of town the state police enter the town.The pickup drives down the road and Michael climbs into the truckbed from his hiding place under the truck.He kills the three vigilantes in the bed and then reaches into the cab and rips the lead vigilante's face open.Rachel takes control of the truck and manages to knock Michael off of it.She hits him with the truck and he falls beside a well.Meeker and the state police arrive and shoot Michael alot of times until he falls back into the well.That night Loomis and Meeker take Jamie and Rachel home.Jamie's foster mother takes her upstairs to give her a bath.While Mrs. Corruthers gets the bath ready Jamie comes in and stabs her with a pair of scissors.Loomis sees Jamie standing with the bloody scissors and freaks out.Halloween 4 is very good.It's not as scary as the first one,but has more story than the second one.George Wilbur is good as Michael,but the mask looks kind of dorky.Dwight Little does a good job directing and Alan McElroy gives the film a few good scares. The main thing that hurts this movie is that the deathcount is too high. Four stars out of five.Runtime:Approx. 88 minutes.17 kills,1 accident.

HALLOWEEN 5:THE REVENGE OF MICHAEL MYERS. Written by Dominique Othenin-Girard,Michael Jacobs,and Shem Bitterman. Directed by Dominique Othenin-Girard.Stars Danielle Harris,Donald Pleasence, Ellie Cornell,Beau Starr,Michael Walker,Wendy Kaplan,and Don Shanks as Michael. Released in 1989.Produced by Moustapha Akkad and Ramsey Thomas. One of the darkest films in the series,Halloween 5 is often ridiculed by Halloween fans for introducing a mysterious Man In Black and a putting a strange tattoo on Michael's wrist.The teenagers are also very dumb and annoying.The film starts where Halloween 4 ended,with Michael falling down the well.He gets swept downstream and ends up next to a small shack on the bank of a river or large stream.Michael gets out of the water and goes into the shack,where an old man lives alone with his talking bird. Michael collapses before he's able to kill the man.We then jump to one year later.The old man has nursed Michael to health and on Halloween Eve 1989 Michael gets up and stabs the old man to death.In the Haddonfield Children's Clinic Jamie is now mute and has a psychic link to her murderous uncle.As she sees Michael kill the old man in her mind Jamie freaks out.The next day Rachel and her friend Tina come over to visit her.Tina brings along Rachel's doberman Max.Loomis has been working at the clinic with Jamie for the past year.Through dialogue we learn that Jamie's stepmother survived the attack the year before.Satisfied that Jamie's okay Rachel goes home. She's taking a shower when Michael enters the house.Jamie sees visions of this and freaks out again.In the Corruthers house Michael corners Rachel and stabs her with a pair of scissors.Later that day Tina comes by to talk to Rachel but ofcourse she's not there.Tina's friend Samantha arrives and they decide to go see Jamie.That night Tina and Samantha are going to a party with their boyfriends and Samantha plans to lose her virginity to her boyfriend Spitz.Before they reach the clinic they come across Tina's boyfriend Mike and take a ride to the store where Spitz works so they can steal some beer.Mike is behind the store getting ready to leave after taking the beer when Michael comes up and slams some kind of three pronged thing into his face.During the course of the day a mysterious man in black arrives in town and begins to follow Michael around.That night Michael picks Tina up in Mike's car and they're driving when Jamie has a vision.Tina stops at a gas station to get cigarettes and the police arrive,taking her to the clinic.Tina talks to Jamie then goes to the party anyway.Loomis has two cops,Nick and Tom,follow her.At the party Samantha and Spitz go into a barn and are having sex when Michael comes up and impales Spitz with a pitchfork.Samantha stands up and Michael slashes her across the face with a sykle.Michael then goes outside and walks up to Nick and Tom's car holding the pitchfork.Tina comes out later and finds the body.Jamie followed her there and Michael chases them through a field in Mike's car.He crashes and gets out.He almost catches Jamie but Tina jumps infront of him and he stabs her.Loomis and the cops arrive and they take Jamie to the Myers house to trap Michael,using Jamie as bait.Everyone's waiting for Michael to show when they lose contact with four cops that were stationed at the clinic.The police head out to the clinic and find the four cops dead,as well as a doctor.Michael arrives,killing the one cop that stayed outside by slamming his head into the dashboard of his car numerous times,then goes inside.The last cop in the house tries to save Jamie by throwing a rope out a window and planning to climb down when Michael comes in and hangs him with the rope.Michael then chases Jamie and Loomis through the house.Eventually Loomis catches Michael in a chain net,then shoots him with tranquilizer darts and beating him to the floor with a board.Later that night Michael is in a jailcell.Jamie goes outside with a cop and then they hear gunshots and explosions from inside.The cop goes in to check and Jamie waits for a while,then goes inside.There she finds a dozen dead cops and sees that Michael is gone from his cell.Despite it's bad reputation,Halloween 5 is still a pretty good movie.It has inconsistencies and the characters are pretty annoying,but it's still a good,scary film.Don Shanks is alright as Michael,but not great,and the mask looks bad,but still....Three stars out of five.Runtime: Approx. 96 minutes.27 kills.

Halloween fans hate this installment in the series.I say Halloween fans because Michael Myers fans accept it.Halloween fans are the people that only like 1 and 2,Michael Myers fans are the people that like all of the movies except for 3.If it has Michael in it,it's a good movie.I am a Michael fan.I hate Halloween fans. Curse starts out with Jamie,now 15,giving birth to a baby boy in the dungeon- like basement of the Smith's Grove Sanitarium.Delivering this baby is a midwife named Mary.As the baby is born the man in black and cultists stand back and watch.As soon as the baby's born the man in black takes it away,into an altar room,where he draws the sign of the Thorn,the symbol that was on Michael's wrist in part 5,on the baby's chest in blood.For the past six years Jamie has been held captive by these cultists,and they have impregnated her to give Michael new prey.Later that night Mary comes into Jamie's room with the baby and helps her escape.As Jamie escapes Michael comes up to Mary and impales her head on a spike on the wall.Outside Michael pursues Jamie through the dark and stormy night.Jamie reaches a pickup truck and gets in.Nearby the truck owner notices and walks toward his truck,yelling at her.Michael comes up beside the man and breaks his neck,twisting his head so far that his spine rips through his throat.In Haddonfield Tommy Doyle,the little boy from part 1,is listening to a radio station where radio shock jock Barry Simms,a Howard Stern clone, is talking about Michael.Tommy lives in a boarding house across the street from the Myers house,which is now inhabited by John Strode,his wife Debra, their kids Kara and Tim,and Kara's son Danny.John Strode is the brother of the man that adopted Laurie in 1965.In the country Loomis is also listening to the program when his friend Doctor Terence Wynn,from part 1,comes to visit. Jamie manages to reach a bus stop but it's deserted.She goes to a phone and can't get through to the Haddonfield police so she calls into the radio station. Tommy and Loomis hear her pleading for help.Jamie goes to the bathroom to clean her baby up when Michael arrives.Jamie escapes but Michael chases her down in a van and runs her off the road.She goes into a barn and Michael catches her,throwing her onto farm equiptment,impaling her.Then he goes outside and finds the baby's blanket in the truck.But wrapped in the blanket is a roll of paper towels.In Haddonfield the next day we get to know the Strode family, and Tim's girlfriend Beth.That night Tim and Beth are organizing a Halloween fair at the junior college.Loomis and Wynn learn of Jamie's death and head to Haddonfield.Tommy listens to his tape of last night's radio program and hears the announcement of a bus arrival on the tape.He heads to the bus stop and finds Jamie's baby in the bathroom.He takes the baby to the hospital to have it checked out.There he meets Loomis and tells him that people are living in the Myers house.Loomis goes to talk to Debra.After Loomis leaves Debra calls John and tells him that she's leaving with the kids.Before she can leave Michael catches her and kills her with an ax.After school Kara comes home to find Tommy in her house with Danny and the baby,which Tommy has named Steven.Tommy takes Kara and Danny over to his place.At the fair Barry arrives and turns out to be a jerk.He wants to go to the Myers house to do a quick tour.At the Myers house John gets home from work and the power goes out.He goes downstairs to check the fusebox and Michael comes up behind him. Michael impales him with a crowbar and throws him back onto the fusebox, where John is electrocuted until his head explodes.At the fair Barry gets into his van and Michael comes out of the back,stabbing him to death.Tim and Beth arrive at the Myers house.After a while they figure Barry isn't coming so they decide to have sex.They do,then Tim goes and takes a shower. When he gets out of the shower Michael comes up behind him and slits his throat.Across the street Kara notices the candles in the bedroom and calls the house.Beth answers and Michael comes up behind her.As Kara listens Michael stabs Beth to death.Kara drops the phone and realizes that Danny's gone.She looks out the window and sees him entering the Myers house.She crosses the street,finds the bodies,saves Danny,a chase ensues.Kara and Danny make it back across the street where Tommy and Loomis have just gotten back to the fair,where they found Barry's body.They go into the livingroom and find the man in black sitting in a chair.The man in black is Wynn.The cultists arrive and take Kara,Danny,and Steven away and drug Tommy and Loomis. When they wake up Tommy and Loomis head for the Smith's Grove Sanitarium. They reach the Sanitarium and Tommy finds Kara after meeting up with a lunatic woman who's been half gutted.The lunatic dies and Michael comes up,chasing Tommy and Kara.Tommy and Kara find Danny and Steven and then watch as Michael walks into a room and massacres nine of the cultists. Another chase ensues,with Michael after Tommy,Kara,Danny,Steven,and a cultist.Michael catches the cultist and crushes his head against a steel barred door.Michael traps Tommy,Kara,and the kids in a room.Tommy manages to get a lead pipe and hit Michael with it thirty times as Kara and the kids escape with the help of Loomis.Michael collapses and Tommy goes outside. Soon Tommy,Kara,and the kids leave but Loomis stays behind because he "has a little business to attended to".We cut to Michael's mask laying on the floor and hear Loomis scream.Now,my summary may make this movie sound really bad but that's just because it's hard to explain.It's good,not as good as 1,2,4,or 5,but good none the less.I would love to see the characters of Tommy,Kara,and Steven back in some sequel.(I could do without Danny though.) Sadly Donald Pleasence died just months after this film was made,so Loomis died also.Three stars out of five.Runtime: Approx. 87 minutes.20 kills. MORE HALLOWEEN
