John Henry Watkins told his granddaught, Pauline, that his grandfather, Henry, and his own dad, Jesse, moved tp MS when Jesse was about 12. They stopped in GA and raised atleast one crop before arriving in MS.
Pauline remembers her grandfather, John H., telling her that his father's half-brother was killed in the Cicil War. She believes that Henry may be buried at a place called Jensy Springs. It is thought that this is where Henry and Jensy lived and owned land.
When Jensy got sick and was dying, the boys in TN came down with a wagon and took her back to TN where she died and was buried(place unknown but probably somewhere near Memphis).
Pauline theorizes that Jensy was Jesse's stepmother and that maybe Alfred was the half-brother. Otherwise, why didn't Jesse keep Jensy here in MS with him when she got so sick?
Jesse didn't get along with his own father, Henry, and he didn't get along with his own sons either.
Jesse and his father were both born in NC and came to MS around 1850. Their occupation was farming and neither could read or write.
It is thought by most that the Watkins men were extremely mean people.

RESEARCHER’S NOTES: Family tradition has it that Henry Watkins was the son of Israel Watkins, however, I can not find ANY indication of that. So, I have my doubts. I would really like to find out who Henry’s parents were.
I have wondered if he was a brother to Anderson Jackson Watkins from the other branch of Watkins. Why? Because in the 1880 MS census, there are 4 Watkins families living right together.
Anderson and Henry are on different sides of our Watkins lines. Is it possible that Anderson, Henry, and W.A. are brothers?
