Bud & Gordon

Bud Fox: No, what I see is a jeolous old machinist,

who can’t stand the fact that his son has become more successful than he has.

Carl Fox:  What you see, is a guy who never measured a man’s success by the size of his wallet!

This quote clearly illustrates the difference between the generations of men.  The older generation believes that success is whether a person can provide for their family, does something good for others at their job, and keeps their morals and integrity at their job.  The younger generation believes money is everything and they are usually willing to sacrifice their integrity and commit immoral acts in order to earn it.  In this particular scene, when the three board members meet with Gekko, Gekko and Bud Fox persuade them to give up their values for the almighty dollar and all except one fall for the trap: Carl Fox.  Carl Fox knew loyalty meant something and was able to maintain his success by doing the right thing.
