Meals per day

Greeks eat 3 main meals a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Breakfast is usually served with coffee or tea and consists of bread and butter with marmaladeand eggs and ham.

Lunch is never served before 1 p.m. and is the main dish of the day's meals.

And finally dinner is served not before 8 p.m. Sometimes this meal does not start until 10 p.m. Bread is served with the warm meal. The bread is used to push the food onto the fork or to soak any oily liquid that are still present.

Food preparation

There are many different ways that food is prepared and served in Greece. It depends on the type of restaurant you visit.There are many different types of restaurants in greece, here are just a few:

Tavernas are the classic greek restaurants. They open at about 8 p.m. and most have live-music. They generally serve dinner in two courses, Entrée (appetizers), followed by main course.

Galaktopolios are open all day long and serve ice, coffee, tea, milk products and puddings.

Zacharoplastio is rthe place to get all kinds of pastry, chocolate, cookies, icecakes and other lollies as well as a drink.

Kafenios, however, are where the male population go to smoke and play backgammon and card games as well as discuss politics. Beverages served here include warm Nescafe, beer, coffee, tea and icecold nescafe (frappe).

There are also many pizza places and ice-cream salons.
