MARTIN PRÉVOST et MARIE OLIVIER MANITOUABE8ICH
Mariage, le 03 NOVEMBRE 1644 à QUÉBEC.
Il s'agit du premier mariage officiel entre un Blanc et une Amérindienne.
Martin est le fils de Pierre Prévost et de Charlotte Vié. Il est originaire de Montreuil-sous-Bois, arrondissement de Bobigny, archevêché de Paris (Seine-St-Denis), une banlieue au nord-est de Paris.
Il est baptisé le 4 janvier 1611, dans la magnifique église St-Pierre et St-Paul de Montreuil-sous-Bois. Il décéda, à Beauport, le 27 janvier 1691, à l'âge respectable de quatre-vingts ans.
Nous estimons l'arrivée de Martin en 1639 en même temps que Marie de l'Incarnation, Il était magasinier pour la Compagnie des Cent associés, donc de ce fait, il fut probablement celui qui prépara les diverses fournitures, pour l'expédition de la fondation de Montréal, par Maisonneuve, en 1642.
Devenu veuf, Martin épousa Marie d'Abancourt, veuve de Geoffroy Guillot et de Jean Jolliet, le 8 novembre 1665, à Québec. Elle était la mère du célèbre découvreur Louis Jolliet.
Martin Prévost eut une vie des plus remplie.
