FOR WOUNDS ENDURED
The box is old and tattered
like the memories stored within.
But o'er the years I've kept both close
Like those of you, my friend.
We took different paths
As we left the past behind
But those enduring memories
play out clearly in our minds.
I got this box for wounds received:
A mere scratch at very best.
But what about all the other boxes
Sent home and laid to rest?
The Wall stores all the names
But we shelter those we knew:
Chubby, Witt, Rowden, and Threet
just to name a few.
Yes, this box is old and tattered.
It's memories well worn and stored.
The Heart inside's for you, my friend,
For many wounds endured.
