"What?!.." I said as my heart began beating faster then I thought possible. I started the get up but Diana put her hand out to stop me.
"Kaitlin, I know this must be a shock for you but you have to listen to me," She said and I saw her looking over my shoulder. I turned to see Zac standing in the doorway with the cordless phone.
"Uh..It's Grandma," He mumbled and handed his mother the phone.
"Just tell her that I'll call her back in a few minutes okay?" She said and gave her son a look that told him to leave the room. I didn't turn around, but I heard footsteps hurrying off.
"How in the crap can I be adopted? I have my own mother and my real father is dead. I thought you knew that," My voice began to raise with my heartbeat. "Don't tell me that their not really my parents."
"Honey...I don't know why they didn't tell you sooner, but your mother is coming later this week to take you home.."
"No! No way am I going home with him! There's no way!," I jumped up and ran from the room.

"Tell Taylor that he's got it coming!" I told Natalie on the other end of the phone. Taylor and I were in one of our mock fights and Natalie was being the referee.
Natalie repeated the comment and I could hear Taylor in the background me a smart comment with a few choice words. Suddenly Zac came into the room and his face was flushed. My mother was yelling something from the kitchen and I couldn't hear everything at once.
"Nat, hold on a minute," I put the phone down and turned to Zac.
"Kaitlin's gone. She ran out of the house and we can't find her anywhere. Im calling a search party."
"What? She's gone? Where?"
"Stop asking so many questions and let's go!" Zac replied and ran from the phone. My mother was right behind him and I heard her calling "Isaac!", so I knew they were serious. I hung up on Natalie and jumped into the over crowed van to go searching.

"Kaitlin! What are you doing here," I let her in turned back toward Natalie. Our two dogs were running around in the living room, so Nat hushed them to be quiet.
"Isaac hung up on me! That..." She was saying when she noticed our house guest.
"I need to talk to you. Alone," Kaitlin said as she stood in the kitchen. I could tell Natalie was uncomfortable with the sudden closeness Kaitin seemed to have with me but I couldn't help it. She was the one who wanted to talk to me rather then my other family members.
"What?" Nat asked and I could tell this would not be pretty. Especially with the tears falling from Kaitlin's eyes.
"Come on Kaitlin, uh..we can talk over here," We sat in the living room. Natalie and I on the couch and Kaitlin in a nearby chair.
"She said I was..." Kaitlin started and I could see she was giving evil looks toward Nat. "I kinda feel awkward talking about this..."
"Well, whatever you can tell Taylor, you can tell me," Natalie stated with her protective tone. That is one thing that we have to work on in this relationship. Natalie seems more protective of me then I am of her and Im supposed to be the man of the family.
"Can we do this somewhere else?"
"No. What do you have to say?" Natalie reached for my hand and pulled it close. Suddenly the door opened and my whole family barged in.
