Chapter 6

"I think she's gone down to the river. She always like to go there with her father," Linda commented as Walker drove along. "Im really sorry, about her outburst. She's had alot of problems, since her father died. I was afraid, that it would come up tonight, she hates to talk about it."

"I understand, I didn't mean to sound to rude, but she was just threatening Mackenzie and I couldn't help it. I get mad when someone talks about my children. Especially if they get mad at Diana to," Walker tried to explain, as Linda told him the directions to the river.

"I know it's probably none of my business, but what kind of trouble has she been in?" He asked hesitantly.

"Oh, well She's mostly been sent to girls homes. Nothing really illegal. Sarah doesn't have the heart to hurt anyone, she just gets mad real easy. She gone to alot of therapy classes for her anger and she's cut down on smoking."

"She smokes?" Walker asked, sounding suprised. "I've never seen you or Mark smoking before."

"It was her friends who got her into it, back in middle school. Right when I found out, I started taking her to the classes and getting her help. Now she see's that smoking is a dirty habit, and she's broken it. Or at least I think she has."

Walker pulled the van to a stop, along side the river bank, and he and Linda got out. They spotted Sarah, sitting with her feet in the water. Linda started to approach her, but Walker told her not to.

He slowly went up to Sarah and sat down beside her.
"I understand, your problems Sarah. I forgive you but maybe your mom needs your forgiveness," Walker replied gently.

"Your little boy, was just really getting on my nerves. And I saw your perfect, nice little family and I just lost it," Sarah said and wiped a tear from her eye.

"My family is far from perfect, honey. We have our problems just like anyone, if not more. I don't know if your mom has told you, but my son's are in a band called Hanson. And all their fans, think that our family is picture perfect, but they don't know the half of it.

They don't know that we were dirt poor, when Hanson started out. My job at the oil company, paid decent, but not the million dollar bucks that people think, an oil executive would have. With Diana not working, and 6 kids to raise, we were pinching out pennies to get money for the guys to use the recording studio in town. Your father was actually the one, who covered for me alot, when I had to take the boys around. If it wasn't for him, my boys wouldn't be doing what they are doing today," Walker continued, as Sarah stood up and brushed off her pants.

"Well, I guess my mom's told you about my 'problems' like she tells everyone. I don't want you to look down on me Mr. Hanson. I just need some time to myself, when I blow up like that," She replied and turned to see her mother standing there.

"Ready to go home?" Linda asked with outstretched arms.

"I guess but maybe tomorrow, could I come back over to your house to apologize to your family?" Sarah asked Walker with a slight smile.

"I think they'd like that," He replied before getting into the van.

"Sorry mom," Sarah commented as her mother drove home. "I know I've been a brat tonight, and really rude to the Hansons."

"I understand hon, but I still expect you to go over there tomorrow, and act like your supposed to. I want you to apologize to the family. Especially to Mrs. Hanson and Mackenzie. And no, he wasn't bumping you on purpose, he's just an energetic little boy, who didn't mean you any harm," Linda said as she pulled into the driveway.

"I guess, but I'll really have to suck up this time," Sarah thought to herself with a sarcastic smile on her face, as she followed her mother into the house.
