Chapter 3

Sarah walked into the salon and gave the receptionist her name. She then took a seat near the front enterance.

She had been sitting there for what seemed like an hour, and Sarah's butt was beginning to hurt, from the hard blue salon chairs.
"Man, can't these people afford some comfortable chairs?"Sarah thought to herself just as the from door was opened.

Sarah sat in shock as she saw a woman with very long hair walk in with a little girl in her arms. The woman was followed by two other girls a little younger then Sarah. The two girls sat down near Sarah and started flipping through some magazines.
The woman had taken the girl back into another part of the salon to get her hair cut.

Sarah went back to the pictures in her magazine. She didn't really know what hairstyle she wanted, but she knew that she wanted it cut. With layers.

The two girls had started talking and Sarah looked over toward them. They both had long blonde hair, much like the woman's and the little girls. The oldest girls hair looked like it had been brushed straight back and Sarah could tell that it had natural waves. The youngest girls was a lighter blonde (almost white blonde) and hers was also brushed straight back away from her face.

"Yeah Zac, we just got here. I don't think it'll take to long. Mom just went back with Zoe," The oldest girl was saying into a bright yellow walkie-talkie and Sarah saw that the youngest girl was looking at her.
The older girl began flipping through the magazine until she met eyes with Sarah.

Suddenly, the oldest girl asked Sarah. "What's your name?"

"Sarah" She answered hesitantly. The girl introduced herself as Jessie and she said that the other girl was Avery.

Sarah quickly looked down at her magazine and tried to concentrate on the pictures. She could tell that the girls were still looking at her, and it was making her uncomfortable.

Sarah was relieved when her name was called and she went into the back of the salon. She was greeted by a tall red headed woman who's nametag read 'Cloe'.

Sarah followed the woman back toward a swival chair and she realized that the woman with the long blonde hair was right in front of her.

"Okay Sarah. What do you want today?" Asked her beautician Cloe' and Sarah tried to pay attention. She told Cloe' that she wanted it short, but with alot of layers in it.

"Okay, here it goes," Cloe' replied and began snipping away at Sarah's hair.

Sarah couldn't help but over here the conversation between the blonde woman and her own beautician.
"What's her name?" Sarah asked Cloe' out of nowhere.

"Oh, that's Diana Hanson. She's the one with 7 kids at home. I don't know how she does it," Cloe' replied and continued on Sarah's hair.

"Seven kids?!" Sarah asked in amazement.
"Mmmhmm. I've never done her hair, but Lucy over there seems to know her pretty well," Cloe' said motioning toward the girl who was doing Diana's hair.

"Okay Sar...we're all done," Cloe' said and turned Sarah around to see her hair. "How do you like it?"

"Oh...I like it. It's just what I wanted," Sarah stammered and handed Cloe' her money.

Sarah said goodbye to Cloe' and returned to the front desk. She noticed that Jessie and Avery were still sitting there, and Jessie noticed Sarah's hair.

"Hey, you have hair like our brother Taylor's," Jessie replied as Sarah gathered up her pocket book.

Sarah gave the girls a faint smile before she headed out the door. She headed home, not realized she had left her jacket beside Jessie and Avery.
