BABY IN A BASKET-BE AT PEACE (With All Men)-BETTER MAN-BRING THEM TO ME

“BABY IN A BASKET”    By  Jeff Leslie 7/01

He began as a baby in a basket
Then was raised in the family of a king
He threw it all away for his namesake
And ran away without a single thing

Standing at the edge of desperation
The voice of God came calling from a flame
“I’ve chosen you to lead a generation
And given you the power of my Name.”

Returning to the man once called his brother
Now leader of the land from which he ran
He said he had a message to deliver
Given by his God, the great I AM.

He said the slaves you’re using are His children
And now there’s something He wants you to know
The time of your abusing them has ended
So heed this warning, “Let my people go!”

After he had given signs of power
Proving that he meant each word he said
The king resisted up until the hour
His only living son and heir was dead.

“Take them!” he said.  “Leave my sight this instant!”
“I never want to see your face again!”
So the man of God led them through the desert
To the long awaited Promised Land

Along the way their God would show His wonders
Starting with the parting of the sea
Commanding from a mountain with His thunder
He told His children how they all should be

“Never have another God before Me
Never worship any other thing
I am to be lifted high and holy
Never use my hallowed Name in vain

“Always keep the Sabbath day for resting
Six days are enough for wages earned
And your father and your mother need respecting
They loved you first so love them in return

“You shall not keep another life from living
Nor long for anything he might posess
Don’t take from him who isn’t freely giving
And speak the truth with all that you profess

“The marriage vows you give are to be sacred
Be loyal to your husband or your wife
Keep these words that I have just commanded
And I’ll be with you all throughout your lives.”

The people heard His words and ate the manna
And made it to the Promised Land at last
All because the faith was in a man
Who started as a baby in a basket

“BE AT PEACE (With All Men)”   by Jeff Leslie  ca.1985

One man’s partly cloudy is another’s partly blue
But without the Son then neither one will ever know the truth
When each perspective lies behind a different pair of eyes
What on earth, for heaven’s sake, are we to do?

One man views the forest while the other sees the trees
But, given time, they each would find the same amount of leaves
Standing back to back they never will see eye to eye
Here is wisdom when you disagree:

Be at peace with all men
Share the Father’s love, be a friend
Look beyond your differences, everyone of them
Finally, be at peace with all men

One man’s glass is nearly full, the next is partly gone
But each will drink his fill and still be thirsty later on
Living water flows the same for all who call the Saviour’s Name
His love reaches out to everyone

One man worships raising hands, another on his knees
Just point up to the sky, I’ll know exactly what you mean
Show the sacrifice of pain was not performed for us in vain
Give the gift that knowing Jesus means

Be at peace with all men
Share the Father’s love, be a friend
Look beyond your differences, everyone of them
Finally, be at peace with all men

“BETTER MAN”    by   Jeff Leslie     3/80

I've gone down for the last time
I can't make it on my own
It seems the harder that I try
The more I get behind
I'm left standing in the cold

I'm tired of trying hard for no one
No one ever seems to know
My soul is crying out
I need a Savior now
From now on I'm gonna live my life with You
With You, Lord, with You

'Cause I've got more to give if I let You live through me
There's too much to gain to leave that Bible on the shelf
The more time I spend with You, the more good You'll do me
Oh, there's a better Man to be than just myself

I can't be satisfied with where I stand today, Lord
I've just got to strive until I know You completely
'Cause only with You will my life be true
Then my joy will be made full
And I'll never stop [2nd time]  no I'll never stop
Till everyone believes me
(rpt.)

'Cause I've got more to give if I let You live through me
There's too much to gain to leave that Bible on the shelf
The more time I spend with You, the more good You'll do me
Oh, there's a better Man to be than just myself

"BRING THEM TO ME"     by  Jeff Leslie  1978/92

Every day as the sun would rise
They'd lead the man with blinded eyes
To the streets just on the outer edge of Jerico
There he'd come for many years
To beg for alms and shed the tears
For light that he had never seen and thought would never know

As he sat beside the road one day
Some people came from far away
He listened as the voices became clear
Someone mentioned, "Son of Man"
And hearing this, he soon began
To cry his plea so loud that very soon the Son would hear

But everyone around rebuked his cries
Till Jesus said there's just one way to heal his blinded eyes

"Bring him to me. Let the blind receive their sight
Bring him to me, from the darkness to the Light
For the blind begin to see at the moment they believe
And I've left it up to you. Bring them to Me."

There are people living everywhere
Who haven't heard that they could share
The very best in life that they can find
They'll never get the chance to see
What everlasting life will be
Unless they understand that from the Truth they have been blind

For all with ears to hear and eyes to see
Jesus gave this last command: "Bring every man to me."

"Bring them to me. Let the blind receive their sight
Bring them to me, from the darkness to the Light
For the blind begin to see at the moment they believe
And I've left it up to you. Bring them to Me."
