The Right Kind of Wrong

Chapter 4

"Ok Nikki went off to do God only knows with AJ and well Nick is… wait, I don’t give a shit about what Nick is doing. So I’m all alone and talking to myself." Jana said while she paced the hotel room.

Jana stopped pacing when someone knocked on the door repeatedly. "Well god damn." She muttered to herself on the way to get the door. She opened it and saw Nick standing there grinning from ear to ear.

She gave him a questioning look as he walked in.

"Well come on in Nick." She said sarcastically while she closed the door.

He continued to grin at her.

"What in the hell are you doing here?" She asked with her hands on her hips.

He shrugged.

"Did you bite your tongue off? Or are you just trying to piss me off?"

"I enjoy pissing you off you should know that by now."

Jana rolled her eyes.

"You know you enjoy my presence."

"Hmm… I don’t think so."

"Wanna go out later?"

"No."

"Do you even have plans for later?"

"I’m packing my shit and moving back to my apartment."

"Why were you here to begin with?"

"Someone broke into my apartment dumb ass and well it’s a long story."

"Ok whatever."

"Is there a reason why you’re here?"

"Not really. Got done with my shit earlier and well I knew you’d be here and I just felt like pissing someone off. Because it’s just so damn easy to piss you off cause you’re like mad at the world or some shit like that."

"Whatever." Jana replied rolling her eyes as she walked into the bedroom.

"So what is up with your ‘I hate the world’ attitude?" Nick asked following her.

"I don’t hate the world."

"Ok." Nick replied as he walked up to her slowly.

"Don’t do that."

"What?" He asked with a grin.

"You know what."

"I don’t think I do." He replied as they stood face to face.

"Oh I think you do."

He just smiled while he leaned in and pressed his lips against hers. Jana was shocked at first then finally gave in and kissed him back.

"Go out with me later." Nick said as they separated while he looked at Jana with her eyes closed still.

"Ok." She whispered.

"Good."

Jana snapped her eyes opened and said, "You know I’m not sure if I like the fact that you are using your wonderful lips to get me to go out with you."

"You think I have wonderful lips?" He asked with a grin.

Jana rolled her eyes and said, "Go now."

"Be ready at eight."

"Sure."

"That gives you two hours."

"Duh!"

"Ok." Nick said then turned around and walked out of the room leaving Jana standing there smiling.

"What’s wrong with me? I should have said hell no go to hell." Jana said as she sighed heavily and flopped down on the bed.

"Where the hell are we going? I can’t believe I agreed to go out with you. I need my head examined. Where are we going?" Jana rambled later that night in Nick’s car.

"It’s a surprise." He said looking over at her smiling.

She rolled her eyes.

"You do that a lot you know. Rolling your eyes, one day they may just roll right out of your head."

"Oh that was dorky."

"Shut up."

"Tell me where you’re taking me." Jana said getting frustrated.

"No."

"Are you going to kidnap me and rape me or something?"

"Nope but now you gave me the idea."

Jana sighed heavily and looked out the window and saw the signs for the beach approaching. She looked over at him and asked, "The beach?" She smiled.

He smiled keeping his eyes on the road and nodded.

‘God what’s wrong with you Jana. You hate him. He’s cocky. He’s a jerk. Yeah keep telling yourself that because if he keeps proving you wrong you’ll need it.’ Jana thought to herself as they got closer to the beach.

"Why did you bring me here? So no one can hear my screams?" Jana asked while they walked down to the shore.

"Why do you always suspect the worst?"

Jana shrugged. This was not the time or the person to be getting serious with.

"Would it be that big of a surprise to you if I just wanted to take you somewhere nice? So we could just hang out, just you and me."

"Yeah."

"Why?"

"I don’t want to talk about it."

"Why?"

"Because I don’t. Ok."

"Fine." Nick agreed sensing the anger in her reply so he decided not to push it.

They walked in silence after that. Nick didn’t know what to say now; he knew he must have struck a nerve with her. He couldn’t help his curiosity though; he wanted to know what was going on with her.

"Why do you hate me so much?" He asked breaking the silence.

"I don’t hate you." She whispered staring at the water avoiding eye contact at all costs.

"How come I don’t believe you?"

She shrugged.

"Ok, then why are you so mean to me?" He asked with a little laugh, he sounded like he was junior high again asking the girl he had a crush on why she was mean.

"I don’t know it’s easier for me to be mean than nice."

"I don’t believe that either."

Jana ignored his response. She hated getting serious with people. She just hated people finding out about her and the things she’d done and been through. She wasn’t proud of the person she became. Usually being bitchy scared every guy away but what was wrong with Nick? He just wouldn’t go away. That bothered Jana more than anything, because the more time she spent with him the less bitchy she was and her walls went down a little. And she started to like him even more.

"Jana." Nick said in a little above a whisper.

They had stopped walking and he was standing in front of her. When did that happen?

"Jana did you hear me?"

"What?" She asked snapping back to reality.

"I asked if you wanted to go our not. You seem like you don’t want to be here with me."

She looked at him. So beautiful. His face was so sincere, almost like he really did care about her. But that couldn’t be possible, he didn’t know her. And when he did know all of her he wouldn’t care anymore.

"No I’m fine." She said with a reassuring smile.

"Are you sure?"

"Nick, I’d love to be any place you take me just as long as you are with me." She said before she knew it.

Nick looked at her in shock and she realized she said what she was thinking.

She turned around and walked away from him thinking, ‘That’s what you get dummy for talking before you think.’

"What did you say?" Nick asked after he caught up with her.

"I don’t remember."

He smiled he heard her right.

She looked over and saw him smiling at her and rolled her eyes.

"Don’t worry Jana I won’t tell anybody you said that." He said with a grin.

"Yeah right, as soon as we get back you’ll be calling everybody and their brother."

"If you tell me not to I won’t." He said now in a serious tone.

She looked at him and said, "I could care less if you told someone. Like it’s that big of a deal."

Now Nick was confused. Which probably wasn’t the hardest thing to do, but damn this girl was so confusing. But that’s the thing that made him want to stay and bug her. Get inside her (no pun intended) and figure out what’s going on in that head of hers.

"Do you thrive on confusing people?" Nick thought out loud.

"What?" Jana asked turning around looking at him.

"Never mind."

"Nick I think we should go back."

"Why? We haven’t gotten to the other things I had planned."

"I’m sorry but I want to go."

"Why?"

"Because."

"Why can’t you tell me why? At least give me that."

"I just feel like going."

"Why?"

"God damn it Nick. Why can’t you just take that?" She asked getting angry.

"Because I just want to know what’s wrong."

"There isn’t anything wrong." She replied in a low voice.

"Bullshit."

She looked up at him anger shining in her eyes and said, "You know shit about me Nick so I suggest you just shut up."

"I want to know you."

"Why?" She asked in disbelief.

"Why not?"

She sighed and started to walk back to his car.

"Tell me why you want to go."

"No."

"Why?"

"God damn it you’re really fucking annoying. Why do you care you just want in my pants anyway."

Nick tried not to laugh and said, "Don’t flatter yourself. How do you know maybe I just want to be friends?"

"I could give two shits what you wanted."

"Ok." Nick said sarcastically.

"What the hell is up your ass now?"

"Just the fact that you think all I want from you is sex pisses me off. I like you Jana, your bitchy attitude and all."

"Why?"

"I don’t know like I can help the way I feel."

"Well sorry you feel that way."

"Why? I’m not."

Jana rolled her eyes and continued to walk to the car.

"Why do you want to go all of a sudden?"

"Because I’m starting to have fucking feelings for you or something. And I have to distant myself from you." She yelled.

"Why do you have to distant yourself?"

"Because I don’t trust myself when I’m around you, and I can’t I won’t. Will you just take me back to the hotel?"

Nick nodded slightly knowing he crossed the line. He shouldn’t have pushed her like that. She didn’t want to tell him that stuff but he forced her to by prodding at her for an answer.

He got in the car and looked over at Jana, she looked liked she was crying. "I’ll show you." He said then gave her a kiss on the cheek.

She looked at him with questioning eyes and he just nodded and started the car.
