Chapter 13
"Hello?" The voice on the other end asked again.
Jana cleared her throat and asked in disbelief, "Shawn?"
"How are you Jana?"
"It’s been a couple years, why are you calling me?"
"I missed you." He said quietly.
Jana laughed.
"I did."
"Sure Shawn I have to go."
"I have to tell you something."
"What?" Jana asked getting annoyed, the longer she talked to him the more vulnerable she would become and he would suck her back into his world.
"You think we can get together some time?"
"No."
"Please?"
"I have to go bye."
"Jana I love you." He said quickly before she hung up.
Jana stood there in shock.
"Are you still there?" Shawn asked.
"Oh my god, what did you say?"
"I love you."
"Oh my god, oh my fucking god. After all these years you decide to come into my life again with that? I have to sit down."
"I’m sorry. It took me a long time to realize it."
"Did you ever stop to think that maybe I moved on and don’t think about you anymore?"
"No."
Jana sighed.
"So you don’t feel the same anymore?"
Jana thought for a second then all of a sudden got really angry. Of course she didn’t love him anymore. It had been at least three years since she saw him. And he broke her heart; he tore her heart into a million pieces when she confessed her love for him.
"Jana?"
"I can’t fucking believe you Shawn you have the nerve to call and just completely forgot about the things you said to me when I said I was in love with you. You broke my heart and it took me well over a year and a half to get over you and I’ve moved on I’m over you."
"I figured that but somewhere deep down I thought maybe you’d have the heart to forgive me and give me another chance."
"Shawn I have to go." Jana said sighing. She had to get off the phone with him before she made a big mistake.
"But Jana-." Shawn tried stopping her.
"Don’t call me again." Jana said then quickly hung up on him and turning her phone off. She put her elbows on her knees and her head in her hands.
"Did you just do what I think you just did?" Nikki asked as she walked up to Jana kneeling in front of her.
Jana shrugged.
"What happened honey?"
"Shawn called." Jana said softly.
"Yeah."
"He said he loved me." Jana said in a confused tone looking at Nikki.
"And you hung up on him?"
Jana smiled and said, "Yeah."
"I thought you were in love with him."
"I thought I was too." Jana replied quietly.
"It’s Nick I tell you. The boy has totally turned you into a different person. Well maybe not a completely different person you still have your wit and bitchiness about you. I think it’s all for the good though." Nikki said smiling at Jana.
Jana smiled.
"Ok go get ready to go shopping and stop thinking about Shawn."
"I’m not thinking about Shawn." Jana said matter-of-factly.
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah." Jana concluded as she walked into the bathroom.
"Ok I think the dress you got makes you look so hot." Nikki said to Jana when they got back from shopping.
"It’s nice."
"Nice? I don’t think Nick will be able to control himself."
Jana laughed as she flopped down on the couch.
"Jana is going to be riding the Nick train tonight." Nikki said as she danced her way to the couch.
"You’re retarded."
"Undersexed."
"What the fuck?"
"Haven’t had sex in a while and if affects my brain."
"Ok." Jana replied looking at Nikki like she was crazy.
"What? Not every girl is lucky enough to visit Carter land."
Jana started laughing and asked, "Are you on drugs?"
Nikki laughed and said, "No."
"Carter land sounds nice." Jana said grinning.
"Yeah, let’s talk about the blond god for a second."
Jana laughed a little and said, "Ok then."
"I never got that many details."
"And?"
"I want to know damn it."
Jana smiled and said, "I have to get ready sorry."
"Bitch."
"Fuck off." Jana said as she closed the bathroom door.
"Holy fuck." Nikki said as Jana walked out of the bathroom. Her normally curly brown hair was straightened. The black one sleeved dress fit her every curve just right and the black heels added height making her legs look longer.
Jana spun around and said, "You like?"
"If I was a guy I’d have the biggest hard on."
"Oh my god I can’t believe you are my friend sometimes. You come up with some crazy shit."
"Hey, I could start on the whack shit you come up with."
"Name one." Jana said putting her hands on her hips.
"Slobbage on the knobbage."
"Hey that was funny."
Nikki started laughing and said, "Yeah, you were all like. ‘What there wasn’t any slobbage on the knobbage going on?’"
Jana started to laugh when Nick knocked on the door.
"There’s your boy toy."
Jana smiled and said, "You have to open it."
"Ok." Nikki said looking at Jana weird then got up and opened the door.
"For the love of everything that is pure Carter looks hot tonight." Nikki said as she looked Nick up and down.
"Thanks." He said grinning at her.
"I wanna visit Carter land." Nikki whined to herself as she sat back down.
Jana walked out of the bathroom and into the living room area to see Nick standing there in a leather jacket and a button shirt underneath it with brown colored pants with strips down them. She stared at him for a minute before she walked out more so he could see her. He smiled as soon as she walked in.
"You look amazing." Nick said in almost a whisper.
"Yeah you look pretty yourself."
Nick rolled his eyes and said, "I hate when you call me that."
Jana leaned in giving him a kiss then kissed his neck and to his ear, "I know." She said in his ear licking around it a little.
"Ok if you don’t stop that we won’t be leaving the hotel room."
"Yeah you will I’m not watching or hearing you two screw." Nikki said bitterly as she flipped through the channels.
Jana rolled her eyes as Nick took her hand and they made their way out of the room.
"Don’t wait up." Jana said to Nikki before she closed the door. Nikki flipped her off in return.
"So where are you taking me?"
"A restaurant."
"Smart ass." Jana mumbled as they got on the elevator.
"That dress is nice."
Jana smiled at him and asked with a raised eyebrow, "Wanna know a secret?"
"With that look I’m not sure."
Jana grinned and said, "Ok."
"Tell me."
She walked up to him and kissed him slowly. "I don’t have anything underneath." She whispered against his lips.
Nick swallowed hard and felt the familiar tightness grow in his pants. Jana giggled a little and then walked back over to the corner where she was grinning wide.
"Fucking tease." Nick mumbled as they walked off the elevator.
Jana just continued to laugh.
"That was nice." Nick said as they walked out of the restaurant hand in hand.
"Uh huh." Jana replied looking at the ground.
"Jana is there something wrong? You didn’t talk much during dinner."
Jana looked at Nick and smiled slightly and said, "I’m fine."
"Somehow I don’t believe you."
Jana let go of his hand and said, "Well I could care less if you believed me or not I said I’m fine and that means I’m fine. Damn."
"Ok."
The valet brought Nick’s car to them and they got in and drove off in silence. Jana stared out the window with her arms crossed and Nick kept his eyes on the road. Jana couldn’t help her mind from wondering to Shawn and a million questions that were swarming her mind. Nick knew she was deep in thought with something so he turned on the radio to drown out the silence because it was driving him crazy.
Jana looked over at Nick and just stared at him until he looked over at her she looked away. She laughed to herself when she remembered doing that to Shawn when she thought he was cute and didn’t want him to know. She shook her head hoping maybe that little shake would get all thoughts of Shawn completely out of her head for good.
"What was that for?"
"What?" Jana asked looking at Nick.
"You were shaking your head."
"Trying to rid myself of some thoughts I’m having."
Nick grinned a little.
"Not that you dirty boy."
"I didn’t say anything."
"I saw that look."
"So what are the thoughts of?"
"You don’t want to know."
"I wouldn’t have asked if I didn’t want to know."
"Seriously you want to know?"
Nick shook his head ‘yes’.
Jana sighed and said, "Shawn called me today no big deal."
"Oh, well it must be something to have you thinking about him."
"No."
"No what?"
"I don’t want to talk about it. Ok?"
"Fine." Nick said and with that the rest of the ride was completely silent until they got to the hotel.
They walked in the hotel and then quickly walked over to the elevator all in the same silence that was in the car.
"What time is your flight?"
"One."
Nick just nodded.
The silence returned as they rode up to the floor Jana was on.
"I wish you could stay."
Jana just nodded.
"I’m going to miss you."
Jana nodded again.
Nick was getting frustrated he didn’t think Jana was listening.
"Jana, I love you."
