Kaitlyn shook her head no.
“Wow, the first time since I’ve known you.”
“The first time ever,” Kaitlyn replied as she sat down next to Kaylee on the couch.
“I thought you went to bed when we got back?” Kaylee asked curiously.
“I did, sort of.”
“Sort of?”
“I ended up calling Nick and we talked until about six this morning.”
“Are you serious?” Kaylee asked wide eyed.
“Uh huh.”
“About?”
“Stuff.”
“What kind of stuff?”
“Just stuff we have in common, which is definitely more than I figured.”
“Really?” Kaylee asked cocking an eyebrow.
“Uh huh.”
“Care to share?”
Kaitlyn looked at Kaylee and grinned then shook her head, “Nah that’s ok.”
Kaylee rolled her eyes sighing as she got up off the couch.
Kaitlyn watched her walk out of the room and then started to laugh.
Chapter 9
“You didn’t go to class?” Kaylee asked as Kaitlyn staggered out of her room.
So, I was wrong. I’m not afraid to admit it. I did have a rather nice and intelligent conversation with Nick last night. Interesting huh? I know I was shocked too. No, he can be a pretty cool guy, I guess.
We laughed a lot, which is always good to do. We both love the 80’s; we talked about that for close to two hours. Everything about the 80’s that was great. So we’re friends. Strictly, friends. You hear that everyone? I know you all want some action or something. But nope, not here. Nah uh. Nada. Zero. Zilch. Ok, I think you’re getting the point, right? I’m hoping. Because I might be worried if I wasn’t getting my point across.
“You’re driving me crazy I want to know what happened,” Kaylee whined later that day.
Kaitlyn rolled her eyes and shook her head.
“Seriously, just a little something.”
Kaitlyn smiled as she looked over at Kaylee.
“What?”
“Nothing,” Kaitlyn replied as she looked away as the phone started to ring.
“I’ll get it,” Kaylee said as she jumped up.
Kaitlyn shook her head and turned the TV on.
“It’s for you,” Kaylee said throwing the phone at Kaitlyn.
“Thanks,” Kaitlyn replied cheerily.
Kaylee mocked Kaitlyn as she sat back down.
“Hello?”
“Hey.”
“Nick, what’s going on?”
“Not much I just woke up,” He replied laughing.
“Really?”
“Well we did talk until 6 this morning.”
“Yeah, I woke up at like 10.”
“So are you doing anything tonight?”
“Studying, finals are coming up in two weeks and I have to start studying.”
“But they are in two weeks?”
“I know.”
“So why study now?”
“So I can be prepared?”
“Ok, never mind.”
“I have a lot of stuff to look over and study.”
“Ok.”
“Why?”
“Well, I wanted to do something.”
“With me?”
“Uh yeah.”
“Oh.”
“It’s ok though, I know your school work is important to you.”
“Yes it is.”
“Well when is the next time you are free?”
“Hm… I don’t know.”
“Before the end of next week?”
“Maybe why?”
“Well I’m leaving at the end of next week.”
“Oh. Well I’ll have to see.”
“Alright.”
“I’ll let you know.”
“Ok.”
“Alright.”
“How’s crazy chick?” Nick asked laughing.
“Crazy chick? Oh Kaylee she’s rather pissed at me right now. She wants to know about last night and I’m not telling her.”
“How come?”
“It’s none of her business?”
“Alright,” Nick replied laughing.
“I’m not one to go and tell everyone my business ya know?”
“That’s cool.”
“Yeah.”
“So what are you doing right now?”
“Watching TV and kicking my self in the ass for skipping my class.”
“You skipped your class?”
“Yeah, first time ever in my life.”
“Wow.”
“I know.”
“So you want to go out to lunch?”
Kaitlyn started laughing and replied, “You just don’t give up huh?”
“Not without a fight.”
Kaitlyn smiled and shook her head. “Ok.”
“Really?”
“You sound shocked.”
“I was getting use to you turning me down.”
“So where do you want to go?”
“I don’t care. You want me to pick you up?”
“I can drive.”
“Ok.”
“I’m a very picky eater I don’t like just any place.”
“McDonalds ok?” Nick asked laughing.
Kaitlyn laughed and said, “That’s what I was wanting.”
“Alright, well you want to meet there?”
“Ok.”
“In twenty minutes?”
Kaitlyn looked at the clock and said, “Ok.”
“Well I’ll see you then.”
“Ok.”
“Bye.”
“Uh huh,” Kaitlyn replied as she hung up the phone smiling.
“You going somewhere?” Kaylee asked raising her eyebrows.
“Why yes I am.”
“Where to?”
“McDonalds.”
“With Nick?”
Kaitlyn smiled and then nodded.
“Oh, didn’t invite me I see.”
“Nope, I’ll bring you back a happy meal.”
Kaylee snorted as she crossed her arm across her chest and pouted.
Kaitlyn got up off the couch and headed into her room.
I don’t know what crawled up Kaylee’s ass all of a sudden this is what she wanted. Duh. Oh well. I think she’s just pissy because I don’t want to give her details in my love life. Scratch that, not my love life. My life. She doesn’t need to know every single detail about me and my other friends.
Now after talking to Nick on the phone and at the club last night I’m more comfortable around him, which is always a good thing. I don’t need to go and make an ass out of myself. I do that enough around regular people.
To say the least I think it’s going to be interesting being Nick’s friend. I’m really kind of apprehensive about it. Because I don’t know if I can handle all of the fans and media because I know every time he is spotted with a girl they assume it’s his new girlfriend. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
“Hello?”
“Kaylee is Kaitlyn there?”
“No Mrs. Anderson she is out with her friend Nick.”
“Nick? As in a boy?”
Kaylee smiled and said, “Why yes a boy.”
“Interesting.”
“Yeah, you want me to have her call you?”
“Please.”
“Ok, bye.”
“Bye dear.”
