Chapter 4

Kaitlyn walked into the Mexican restaurant, La Pachanga, where she worked the weekends as a waitress. She walked straight into the back putting her purse and jacket in the backroom before she grabbed her apron and went back out front.

"Hey Kaitlyn," A short blonde said as she walked by.

"Hi Claire," Kaitlyn replied as she walked over to the manager in charge that night. "Mary."

"Kaitlyn, how are you?"

"Eh, I’m ok," Kaitlyn replied shrugging.

"Alright, Carrie just sat a table in the back room and it has your name all over it."

"I’m so excited Mary thanks," Kaitlyn replied rolling her eyes.

Kaitlyn made her way to the room in the back, usually set aside for large parties or just special people. She walked in to see eight guys sitting around the big round table. She groaned inwardly, all guys for customers weren’t ever that much fun for her. She scanned the group of guys as they all looked up at her smiling, all but one.

"Hi, I’m Kaitlyn and I’ll be your waitress for this evening. Can I start off by getting you gentlemen something to drink?"

The looked at her and then back at the menu. She shifted her weight from one foot to the other, getting slightly frustrated already.

"Coke."

"I’ll take a beer."

Kaitlyn raised an eyebrow at him.

"I’ll show you my ID."

She laughed and shook her head.

"Me too."

Kaitlyn looked up at the person who responded last. It was Nick. She stared at him for a minute and then quickly snapped out of whatever she was in when the other guys starting giving her their drink orders.

"Alright, do you know what you want or do you need some time?"

"Time," Was said throughout the room while Kaitlyn snuck a few glances at Nick before he caught her, she looked down at her pad blushing and mentally kicking her ass.

"Alright then, I’ll be right back with your drinks," She said smiling as she walked out, "Stupid." She said to herself as she hit her forehead with the palm of her hand.

"She’s cute, huh?" Mike asked as he nudged Nick in the elbow.

"Yeah, she looks familiar too."

"Huh?"

"I think I saw her last night or one night," Nick replied shrugging.

"She’s real cute," Another guy chimed in while the others agreed.

…:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::…

"Oh my god, do you know who you’re serving?"

Kaitlyn looked up, from filing drinks, at Sarah, the peppiest girl in the world. "Huh?"

"You’re serving Nick Carter and his friends."

"Oh yeah?"

"Oh my god you don’t know who he is? Have you been living underneath a rock?"

"Nope."

"God, he’s hot huh?"

"Who?" Kaitlyn asked she loved to mess with this girl.

Sarah sighed frustrated. "You need help."

"Huh?"

Sarah threw her hands up in the air as she sighed again and then stormed off while Kaitlyn started to laugh.

…:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::…

"So are you ready to order?" Kaitlyn asked as she looked around the table making eye contact with Nick again, he smirked at her and she smiled politely back at him.

Kaitlyn wrote down everything they said as they told her what the wanted and then she looked up at them smiling. "Alright, I’ll be out with your food as soon as it’s ready."

"Thanks," Nick said grinning at her.

She smiled slightly and then walked out of the room.

"She dissed you man," Mike said as he hit Nick in the shoulder.

"She did not."

"Alright whatever," Mike replied as the other guys started to laugh.

Nick sat back crossing his arms across his chest and sighed.

…:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::…

Alright now, this is crazy. Saw Nick last night and now he’s at my restaurant? What is up with that? Ok, never mind I don’t care. Blah.

Sarah keeps following me around to each of the tables I was doing, trying to pry some answers out of me. Well damn it girl, I don’t have any damn answers. Like Nick’s shoe size? What the fuck is up with that? I swear 16 year old girls want to kill them sometimes. She’s aggravating. I hope to god I wasn’t like that when I was her age. God, now I feel so old. 16 was 6 years ago, ok that’s just weird.

I should go hide from her. Because I hear her calling, god she has an annoying voice. When did I get to be so damn… intolerant? Is that the right word? I don’t know, or impatient. Or just plain mean?

…:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::…

"Ok, there you guys go enjoy your meal," Kaitlyn said as she handed them all their food and then she smiled at them and walked out the door.

"Uh, Kaitlyn?"

Kaitlyn turned around, "Yes?" She asked looking at Nick.

"Can I get a refill?" He asked holding his glass up.

Kaitlyn sighed and nodded before she walked over to him grabbing his glass. "Be right back," She said as she walked out of the room.

"I think I’m going to ask for her number," Mike announced grinning.

Nick looked over at him and glared.

"Or not," Mike replied as he looked at Nick.

Everyone else around the table started to laugh while Nick just grinned at him.

"Here you go," Kaitlyn said as she sat Nick’s glass down in front of him, "Enjoy your meal," She said as she walked out.

"Hey do you think you could get me an autograph?" Sarah asked popping out in front of Kaitlyn scaring her to death.

Kaitlyn put her hand over her heart and said, "What?"

"Well Mary said I can’t go in there because she knows that I’ll make a scene so please? Please?"

"Will you leave me alone? Never speak of him again?" Kaitlyn asked as she put her hands on her hips.

"Yes, I promise," Sarah squealed as she hugged Kaitlyn.

"Ok, no more of this either," Kaitlyn replied as she pushed Sarah off of her.

"Thank you thank you thank you."

"Zip it."

Kaitlyn took a deep breath and peeked into the room. She didn’t want to just walk in and ask for an autograph while he was eating and she certainly did not want him to think it was for her. She saw that he was talking and had stopped eating for a moment. She figured that she mid as well go.

"Um… Nick?"

Nick looked up at her smiling, "Yeah?"

"Uh… this is rather awkward for me but another waitress here Sarah, she’s quite obsessed and well she isn’t allowed in here because well it won’t be pretty so she’ll leave me alone if you give her an autograph. Please spare me and my sanity because if she doesn’t leave me alone I may commit murder."

Nick laughed lightly and took the piece of paper from Kaitlyn. He scribbled, To my biggest fan Sarah. Love you always and forever Nick, and then he handed it back to Kaitlyn smiling wide at her.

Kaitlyn read what he wrote and then looked at him with wide eyes, "Are you trying to kill her?"

Nick laughed and shook his head.

"Seriously, this may cause some long term effect on her. You do realize this don’t you?" Kaitlyn started to ramble.

"You just said you may have to commit murder," Nick replied laughing.

"I wasn’t serious. I couldn’t hurt a damn fly. And that was only if she didn’t leave me alone."

"Ah, I see."

"Alright, I’m going now. Thanks for this."

"Sure, now you have your sanity back," Nick replied smiling.

Kaitlyn smiled as she walked out of the room.

…:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::…

Kaitlyn sighed as she made her rounds and headed back to the back tables to give Nick and his friends their check.

"Did ya get it? Huh? Huh?" Sarah asked grabbing Kaitlyn’s shoulders and shaking her a little.

"Oh my god, yes I got it. Damn," Kaitlyn replied handing her the paper and then rolling her eyes.

"I love you. He loves me, forever."

Kaitlyn pressed her lips together and rolled her eyes again. So naïve this girl was. "Uh huh," Kaitlyn replied as she walked off.

"Thanks Kaitlyn you’re the best anytime you want an autograph or something I can get it for you," Sarah said as Kaitlyn started to walk off.

"Sure," Kaitlyn muttered to herself.

"How was everything?" Kaitlyn asked walking over to Nick.

"Great," Nick replied smiling.

"Here’s your check," She said setting it on the table.

"Ok here," Nick replied getting his wallet out and handing her his credit card.

She took the card and the check and walked back to the front of the restaurant.

"Is that his credit card?" Sarah asked wide eyed.

Kaitlyn looked at Sarah annoyed, "You’re breaking our little bet give me the autograph back."

"No," Sarah replied stepping away from Kaitlyn’s outstretched hand.

Kaitlyn sighed and grabbed the receipt and glared at Sarah before she walked back to Nick’s table.

"Here you go just sign there," Kaitlyn said handing him the receipt.

Nick smiled as he handed it back to her.

"Have a nice night," She replied smiling and then walked away.

"You guys ready to go?" Nick asked as he stood up while all the others stood up also.

…:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::…

Kaitlyn was cleaning off a table when she looked up to see Nick and his friends leaving. She sighed and went back to clearing off the table.

"Did you see him he looked at you?" Sarah asked popping up behind Kaitlyn.

"Sarah I’m not sure if you understand what I said. I asked if you would never speak of him again if I got you that damn autograph and you agreed so stick to your end of the bargain. I don’t want to hear about him. Ok?"

"Fine," Sarah replied as she walked away.

Kaitlyn sighed as she finished the table she was currently clearing off. She put the dishes in the back and then headed over to the back tables. She started to stack things up then she saw a fifty dollar bill lying where Nick was sitting and a napkin that was written on. She picked up the napkin to read what it said. 555-2690 Hope to hear from you.

"What in the hell?" She asked herself as she read it again.

…:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::…

Ok, a fifty dollar tip… that’s rather generous don’t you think? Damn. And then he leaves his number like I’m actually going to call him. Psh. I’m not. Seriously, I’m not! Seriously.

I think Kaylee may shit or something after I tell that he was at the restaurant and he gave me his number. I wonder what she’ll say. She’ll probably find some way to turn it all around so she’d be responsible and I should be thanking her in the end. Psh, that’s Kaylee for you.

Should I call him?... Nah.
