Chapter 47
Do You Remember?
Nick walked into the kitchen and took two aspirin and downed a glass of water. He leaned against the counter closing his eyes trying to remember what had happened last night. He walked back into the living room and sat down on the couch. He turned on the TV and started flipping through channels as he laid his head back resting it on the arm of the couch.
Nick woke up with a pounding headache. He sat up slowly looking around the room as he started to rub his temples a little. He noticed Madison wasn’t lying next to him. He looked around confused; it looked like her things were still in the room. He got off the bed noticing he was naked. He grabbed a pair of boxers out of his closet and then headed downstairs from some much needed aspirin.
Madison opened her eyes slowly to see that she was still in the bathroom and still in her towel but she was on the floor. She stood up wondering how she ended up there. She tightened her towel and walked out of the bathroom to see Nick wasn’t sleeping anymore. She quickly put some clothes on and then made her way downstairs quietly.
Nick looked up as she stepped onto the last step. She was obviously not quiet enough. He smiled at her and said, "Hey I was looking for you."
She smiled a little and said, "I was in the bathroom."
Nick nodded and then averted his attention back to the TV.
Madison looked at him for a little longer and then walked into the kitchen sitting down at the table with her head in her hands. She looked up when she heard the phone ring and then Nick answering it in his office. She stood up and stood close to the door trying to hear the conversation but she couldn’t hear a thing.
She walked back over to the table this time laying her head on her arm. She sighed as she closed her eyes.
"Hey guess what?" Nick asked as he popped into the kitchen.
"Mm?"
"You know how we were going to record later?"
"Yeah."
"Well we’re going to start next week."
Madison opened her eyes and said, "Cool."
"Exciting huh? You get to hear us record."
"Nick, I’m going to go back to New York while you’re doing that," Madison replied as she slowly stood up and walked back upstairs.
Nick followed her upstairs. She groaned when she saw him standing in the doorway of their room.
"Why?"
"Why? Because I can and I want to I miss my boys."
"That’s fucked up Madison. I want you to go with me."
"Nick, I don’t feel like arguing with you."
Nick sighed as he crossed his arms. "I don’t feel like either because I have this pounding headache."
Madison looked up at Nick. "Do you remember last night?"
"Not really should I? Something happen?"
Madison looked down at her hands and then shook her head no.
"Then why do you ask?"
"Just wondering because you were gone for a long time and you didn’t tell me where you were going."
"Oh ok," Nick replied as he looked down and then back up at her.
Madison sat there playing with the hem of her shirt. "I’m going to go back to New York," She said softly.
Nick sighed and shifted his weight from one foot to the other before just walked out of the room, frustrated.
Madison lay back on the bed blinking back the tears that threatened to fall. She covered her face with her hands as she brought her feet up on the bed. She rolled over pulling her knees up as she laid in the fetal position.
Nick lay on the couch with his headache. He was flipping through the channels and then he stopped on MTV when he saw a picture of him and Madison. He turned up the TV so he could hear it.
"Haven’t seen or heard of Nick Carter and his girlfriend, the lead singer of Y5, Madison Lewis in a while. It was reported that she has moved in with him and they were seen together last week at an amusement park. Rumor has it that Madison was sporting an engagement ring but both parties were not around for a comment."
Nick sat back on the couch considering what was just said. He knew he didn’t give Madison a ring, he didn’t even remember seeing a ring on any of her fingers. He sighed as he ran a hand through his hair. It was so nice when they weren’t in the media all the time.
Nick looked up when Madison was coming back down the stairs. He continued to watch her until she walked out of his sight. She was so gorgeous. He could stare at her all the time and never get tired of her face. So it was inevitable he had feelings for her but everyone knew that. Nick got up and was about to go outside to where she was but his phone started to ring, stopping him.
"Hello?"
"Hey baby."
Nick started laughing and replied, "Aaron what the hell do you want?"
"I want your woman."
"Aaron."
"No, mom is wigging out yo she just caught the last part of the little news thing on MTV because that’s all I watch ya know and well they were talking about you."
Nick groaned as he sat down covering her face with his hand.
"Yep, she isn’t too happy with you. I figured I’d call and let you know so you can be prepared."
"Yeah."
"So are you guys really engaged because then you’re really doing all this backwards you’re supposed to confess that you love her before you move in and get married dumbass."
"Dude, we’re not engaged."
"Oh, so I still have a chance?"
"Well there is a cold day in hell."
"Hey that’s possible."
Nick shook his head and said, "You’re an idiot."
"So are you."
"Shut up."
"So what have you and she been doing?" Aaron asked and then started to giggled a little.
Nick rolled his eyes and said, "None of your damn business."
"Oh I see."
"Oh my god is that all you wanted?"
Aaron sat there pretending to think and said, "Yeah I guess so."
"Alright."
"What?"
"I’m going to go now."
"Fine."
"Bye Aaron."
"Bye tell your girl I think she’s fine."
Nick rolled his eyes and hung up the phone.
"So you’re coming back next week?" Tony asked excitedly on the other end of the phone.
Madison smiled and said, "Yeah who knows maybe longer."
"What’s wrong? You and Nick have a fight or something?"
"Nah, just feeling a little homesick I miss my boys."
"We miss you. Well I do I’m sure Shane does. Who knows about Jake I haven’t talked to him he’s been pissy."
"When is he not pissy?"
"Hmm… good point."
Madison laughed and then stopped as she looked up at the sky.
"I know something is wrong I can feel it."
"Tony stop worrying I’m fine."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Ok."
Madison smiled and said, "I’m going to go."
"Alright I guess I’ll see you next week."
"Yep."
"Bye Madison I love you."
Madison sighed and replied, "I love you too."
Madison smiled and then stood up and made her way back into the house. She walked into the living room and sat down on the chair next to the couch. She tucked her legs underneath as she glanced over at Nick quickly and then back to the TV.
"Wanna know the latest gossip on us?"
Madison looked over at Nick.
"We’re in engaged," Nick replied laughing.
Madison smiled slightly and then looked back at the TV.
"What’s wrong?"
Madison shook her head no as she continued to look at the TV.
"Is this about the whole New York thing?"
"Nick, I don’t want to really talk about it. I’ve made my mind up."
"But if you go with me once then you’ll love it I know. I really want you to go."
Madison sighed as she propped her elbow on the arm of the chair and then rested her head on her hand.
They sat there quietly for a while. Madison was trying no to think of anything while Nick was thinking about everything almost.
"Madison," He said softly.
Madison looked over at him with questioning eyes.
"Never mind," He replied as he looked back at the TV.
Madison looked at him for a little longer and then back at the TV. She sighed as she laid her head on the arm of the chair.
