Tell Me Why
"Nothing, Todd finally got all his shit moved in. How is it down there with Nick?"
Madison sighed and said, "It’s wonderful."
"Then why do you sound so low?"
"What do you mean? I’m happy."
"Could have fooled me."
"Tony I didn’t call you so you could do this."
"Do what? Can’t I be worried about you?"
Madison sighed and said, "Never mind ok?"
"Whatever."
"What’s wrong now?"
"Nothing I just feel like you’re hiding something from me."
"Tony if something was going on you know I’d tell you. I tell you everything."
Tony sighed and replied, "I know."
"Well stop worrying."
"I’ve never been this far away from you, you know. And well you’re like my little sister and I feel like I have to protect you and take care of you."
Madison laughed and said, "I’m a big girl Tony I’ll be alright."
"Yeah," Tony replied softly.
"What?"
"Nothing."
"Ok."
"Well Todd just got back with dinner. I’ll call you later?"
"Alright."
"Bye, I love you."
"Love you too Tony."
"Bye."
"Bye," Madison replied as she hung up the phone and the looked around her before she got up and walked back inside the house.
"So what’s going on?"
"I have to go out for a few hours I’ll be back in a little while."
Madison looked up from the TV and looked at Nick. "Where are you going?"
"Out."
"I can’t come?"
"No."
"How come?"
"Because you just can’t alright, damn."
"Geez… you don’t have to get so angry I was just simply asking. I feel like I’m a damn prisoner just sitting around here all day."
"Well go do something."
"Oh yeah in my imaginary car?" Madison asked as she kneeled on the couch resting her arms on the back of it.
"I don’t know god I’m leaving."
"Why can’t you tell me where you’re going? I always tell you because you demand it practically."
"I don’t demand it," Nick replied as he walked over to her.
Madison shook her head yes.
"What the fuck ever you make me sound like some controlling possessive boyfriend."
Madison cocked a questioning eyebrow at him.
"You know I’m going to go before this turns into something ugly," Nick replied as he walked out of the house.
Madison sighed and shook her head as she sat back down on the couch. Madison sat there for a minute before she got up grabbing her cell phone and then walked outside onto the patio.
She sat down and pushed one of the speed dial buttons. She bit her bottom lip slightly as the phone stared to ring.
"Hello?"
"Hi Shane."
"Hey Madison what’s going on? I heard you moved in with Nick."
"Yeah."
"What’s wrong?"
"Just been thinking."
"Uh oh, about what?"
Madison smiled and asked, "Can you give me some advice?"
"Me?"
"I know strange huh? I always go to Tony for advice but I think you might be a little better this time."
"Ok shoot."
"What do you think about me and Nick?"
"What do you mean?"
"As a couple do you think we are right for each other?"
"Do you?"
"Yeah."
"Then what I say shouldn’t matter."
"True but I still want to know."
"You know at first I didn’t really know but you guys are really cute together. I think it’s possible."
Madison smiled as she started to bit one of her fingernails.
"Did you doubt this?"
"Not really I was just wondering we’ve kind of been arguing a lot lately."
"That’s normal everyone argues."
"Yeah true."
"Anything else?"
"I don’t know. What’s going on with you?"
"Nothing enjoying my free time, sleeping in is great."
"I know."
"But I also miss performing."
Madison sighed and replied, "Yeah."
"So where is your lover now?"
"I don’t know. He left and wouldn’t tell me where he was going."
"Oh, maybe he is going to buy you something," Shane replied laughing.
Madison laughed and said, "Maybe."
"You sound sad Madison."
"I’m not honestly."
"You sure?"
"Yeah."
"Ok I won’t hound you about it."
"Thanks."
"Yeah I know how much you love that," Shane replied sarcastically.
"Oh yeah," Madison said rolling her eyes.
"I wrote a song late last night."
"Did you?"
"Uh huh, I was kind of nervous I’ve never written one but it didn’t turn out half bad. I’ll have to let you listen to it."
"That’s cool I’d like that. Maybe we can put it on the new album."
"Doubt that," Shane replied laughing.
"You know what I was thinking the other day?"
"What?"
"Well it was after Nick and I had this argument and he left."
"After the argument?"
"Uh huh."
"Ok."
"And you know that I told Nick I love him because I do."
"Yeah."
"But he hasn’t told me that he loves me. I understand that he may not have the same feelings you know."
"Yeah."
"But I don’t know it’s really tough to love someone so much and get nothing in return."
"I understand."
"I mean I feel like I’m not loveable or something. Or I don’t deserve his love."
"Madison you know that a bunch of shit."
Madison laughed lightly and then turned serious and said, "I just want to know why he can’t love me?"
