Meet My Folks
"So this is what you’ve been doing since you left?" Her sister asked putting her hand on her hip tapping her foot.
Madison glared at her sister. "Shut-."
"Madison I’m very disappointed in you. So who is he?" Her mother said as they all walked into the hotel room.
Madison looked at her mom confused. "Uh… my boyfriend?" Madison replied as she looked at Nick strangely, feeling awkward saying boyfriend.
"I can’t believe you; I bet you two are having premarital sex aren’t you?" Her mom said pointing at the two of them.
Madison stared at her mom wide eyed while Nick pressed his lips together trying not to laugh.
"Are you?" She asked putting her hands on her hips looking between the two of them.
Nick looked over at Madison, her face was beat red she looked as if she could die, and then he looked back at her mom and then back at Madison again.
"Madison, this is unacceptable behavior." Her mom stepped a little closer to Madison. "Are you having sex with him?"
"No." Madison replied rolling her eyes. She prayed for someone to run into her room and shoot her right then and there.
"Have you done anything with him? You know sexual?"
"Oh my god." Madison muttered as she crossed her arms looking up at the ceiling.
"Answer me. Have you seen his you know? Wee wee?"
Madison looked at her mom and started to laugh and then she looked over at Nick who was trying not to laugh.
"What is so funny? I don’t think STDs are funny or a pregnancy before marriage is funny Madison."
"It’s a penis mom."
Madison’s mom gasped a little and said, "Don’t say that it’s dirty."
"Penis."
"Madison answer me have you see his wiener? Is that better?"
"Penis, just say it mom."
"No."
"Penis."
"Stop it."
"Penis."
"Madison."
"Peeeenis." Madison was laughing hysterically now along with Nick and basically everyone else in the room.
"When did you get such a dirty mouth?"
"Mom penis is not a dirty word."
"Answer me."
"What?"
"I want to know what you have been doing with him." Her mom replied pointing at Nick and then back at her.
"Why?"
"Because I am your mother and I deserve to know."
Madison sat down on the couch rolling her eyes. "I can’t believe you are doing this in front of everyone."
"We are all family we have no secrets."
"Yeah and I want to know if my sister has become some kind of slut." Carly replied.
"Carly!" Her mother said as she turned around to look at her.
"That’s shitty." Madison replied glaring at Carly.
"What did you say?"
"My god mom I’m not five anymore I’m an adult in case you forgot I can do what I want. If I want to go have sex with Nick I will. If I want to say penis I will. PENIS! Penis, penis, penis. Peeeenis! I’m so tired of you treating me as if I’m five."
Her mom stood there shocked and said, "Stop saying that word."
Madison sighed and said, "Did you hear anything else I said?"
"I heard you say that word again. I can’t believe you can say it so freely with men in the room."
"What are you talking about? You’re the one talking about sex with men in the room."
"That’s different they know what sex is."
"And they don’t know what a penis is?" Madison asked cocking an eyebrow.
"I didn’t say that."
"Yeah you did."
"You’re changing my words around."
"Ok."
"So… Nick are you going to be joining us for dinner before Madison’s concert?"
"No mom he has-."
"I’d love to." Nick said smiling.
Madison looked over at him glaring while he just grinned widely back at her.
"That’s good because I’d like to get to know the man that is occupying all of my daughter’s time these days. Because she seems to busy to call her mother once and a while to let me know she isn’t dead."
"God help me." Madison mumbled as she covered her face with her hand and leaned back on the couch.
"I want to go with you guys." Tony said as he stood in the doorway of the bathroom watching Madison fix her hair.
"Are you going to bring Todd?"
"Well duh!"
Madison rolled her eyes and said, "I don’t care." Then she pushed passed him walking over to her suitcase.
"Do you have a problem with Todd?"
"No."
"I don’t believe you." Tony said walking over to her.
"I don’t know what to tell you."
"Madison we are ready to go. Well hello Tony." Madison’s mother said as she walked into Madison’s room.
"Diane, I haven’t seen you in so long. You look radiant." Tony replied as he walked over to Madison’s mom hugging her.
"Thank you dear. Madison are you ready?"
"Yeah." Madison replied as she walked passed her mom and Tony and out the door.
"What’s wrong?" Nick whispered into Madison’s ear as they all sat at a big round table in the restaurant.
"Nothing."
"Liar."
Madison turned her head and looked at Nick. "I didn’t want you to come."
"Oh…" Nick replied leaning back in his chair surprised.
Madison put her elbows on the table and held up her head with her hand.
"Madison get your elbows off the table." Her mother snapped at her from the end of the table.
Madison sighed as she leaned back.
"Why?"
Madison looked at Nick cocking an eyebrow. "Why what?"
"Why didn’t you want me to come?"
"Just drop it."
"Please tell me."
"Never mind, I’ll tell you later."
"Prom-."
"So Nick what are your intentions with Madison?"
Nick cleared his throat nervously and replied, "Excuse Mrs. Lewis?"
"I said what are your intentions with Madison?"
"Uh…" Nick said cutting his eyes over to Madison who was sitting there covering her face with her hands and then back at her mom.
"Well?"
"I don’t know what to tell you."
"So you don’t intend to do anything? You are just playing with her? Or just using her? Because you do know that Madison is special, she isn’t like the girls you’re used to. She is a virgin and she’s proud. So you better not try and pressure her into doing something she isn’t ready for. Ever. She’s not going to sleep with you. She’s waiting till marriage. Right Maddy?"
Nick looked over at Madison as she moved her hands a little to look at her mom and then at him. She stared at him as a few tears started to fall and then she covered her face again.
"Madison isn’t what you think. She’s not very independent. When she moved she depended completely on Tony here. Thank god he was there or she would have died probably. You see Madison had an eating disorder, she would binge eat and then throw it all up and then she’d starve herself for a few days and then eat again and so on. She’s been depressed too. But we think she’s better now, I just wish she’d figure out that music isn’t a career and come back home. Because it’s not going to last… Oh, good the food is here."
Nick stared at Madison’s mother in disbelief of what she was saying to him in front of everyone, nonetheless. He looked back at Madison and he could tell she was crying even more now. He leaned in close to her and started rubbing her back. "Are you ok sweetie?" He whispered to her.
Madison peaked out from under her hands a little and said, "You see why I didn’t want you to come now? Families always tell embarrassing stories right? Well I guess mine is the worst."
"I’m sorry."
Madison shrugged a little and wiped her eyes as the waiter put her food in front of her.
"Madison get your elbows off the table and eat."
Madison sat back sighing and then picked up her fork and started eating while Nick still looked at her.
