Chapter 11
Read a Newspaper Lately?
Madison stared at the paper with wide eyes as she flopped down on the couch; so many questions were running through her head. How did they get the picture of them together? Going in and out of the hotel? And at the restaurant? She wasn’t used to seeing her picture in papers, but Nick Carter? She could hear her parents now. She groaned as she thought about what the article was going to say.
“You’re popular now my dear.” Shane said as he sat down next to her.
“This can’t be good.”
“It’s just rumors right now, don’t sweat it.” Shane said as he patted her back.
“Don’t sweat it? I was going to go see Nick.”
“Oh.” He replied as he leaned back on the couch propping his feet up on the table in front of him.
“This really can’t be good.”
“Why? I see it as a great thing.” Tony said as he walked around the room and then stood in front of her.
“You would.” Madison mumbled as she leaned back crossing her arms.
“Seriously, the hottest new punk singer with the hottest pop singer. Hello? Justin and Britney who? It’s Nick and Madison all the way. Move over J. LO.”
Madison couldn’t help but laugh. “I think the bleach has finally affected your brain.”
Tony put his hands on his hips and stared at her with his mouth hanging open.
Madison looked around the room as she stood up. “I should call Nick.”
“What for?” Tony and Shane asked at the same time.
Madison turned around to look at them. She shook her head and then walked off to search for her cell phone.
Nick grabbed the nameless girl’s hips and pushed her down harder on top of him. She put her hands on his shoulders to steady herself as she continued to move faster on top of him.
“Faster.” Nick said breathlessly and then grabbed one of her breasts massaging it roughly.
The girl moaned as she leaned down to kiss Nick he was about to turn his head to the side to avoid kissing her, but his cell phone began to ring.
“Fuck.” He said as looked over at his phone and then back at the girl. He grabbed her ass roughly and stopped her abruptly.
“Ow, you fuck that hurt.” She snapped glaring at him.
“Fuck you, shut up and don’t move.” Nick replied as he pointed his finger at her.
She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms covering her chest as Nick answered the phone.
“Hello?”
“Nick?”
“Yeah.”
“It’s Madison.”
“Yeah.” Nick replied rolling his eyes as he looked back at the girl and then around the room sighing.
“Are you busy?”
“No why?” Nick asked as he looked back at the girl glaring and pointing his finger at her again, when she started to slowly move in a circular motion around him.
“You sound kind of out of breath.”
“Yeah I couldn’t find my phone so I was running around looking for it.”
“Oh.”
“So did you finalize your plans?”
“Uh… not yet.”
“Oh, why not?”
“Kind of got sidetracked.” Madison replied shrugging.
“Oh.”
“Because we are on the front page of the National Enquirer, the night we went to dinner, you know?”
“Seriously?” Nick asked as he leaned his head back on the headboard.
“Uh… yeah I’m looking at it right now.” Madison replied.
“What all do they have? Just pictures?” Nick asked as the girl started kissing his chest. “Stop.” He snapped at her.
“What?” Madison asked confused.
“Nothing I was talking to Mike, he’s painting his fingernails and he was trying to paint mine.” Nick replied slapping his forehead with his hand.
“Ok.” Madison replied suspiciously.
“Yeah.”
“Well I’m going to go and call for flight times, then.” Madison replied softly.
“You act as if you don’t want to come anymore.”
“I didn’t say that.”
“Ok… well I’ll talk to you later.”
“Yeah, bye.”
“Bye.” Nick said as he hung up his phone and put it back where it was. He looked back at the girl and said, “You’re going to pay for that bitch.” And then grabbed her ass again and began to move her roughly up and down.
“That was odd.” Madison said as she flopped back down on the couch next to Shane.
“What?” Tony and Shane asked at the same time.
“What am I in surround sound or something?” Madison asked as she looked between Shane and Tony.
“What can we say? We are both nosey as all hell.” Shane said shrugging.
“I know, anyway I don’t know it was just an odd phone call. He seemed different. I don’t know.” Madison said shrugging and then leaned back on the couch crossing her arms.
“That’s all?” Tony asked exasperated.
Madison started laughing and replied, “Uh… yeah sorry I didn’t fulfill your quota for gossip today.”
“So anyway, what did he say when you told him about the paper?” Shane asked.
“That’s what was odd, you would think he’d be a little unhappy or something, he didn’t really seem like he cared much.” Madison said as she started picking at her nails.
“Maybe he doesn’t care.” Shane suggested.
Madison shrugged.
“Of course he cares; he doesn’t like the public to know about his relationships and stuff. Look what happened to poor Willa and that one chick uh, Tiffany. When the public starts knowing things about your sex life that is about time for the couple to call it quits.” Tony said as he waved his arm in the air.
Madison and Shane looked at him bizarrely and then they looked at each other.
Madison looked back at Tony and said, “I’m not sure what’s scary the fact that you know the names of Nick’s ex-girlfriends or how much you know about Nick’s past relationships period.”
“Yeah, it’s kind of freaky dude.” Shane replied nodding.
“Oh come on, everyone knows.”
“That’s a negative, I didn’t.” Madison said grinning at Tony.
“Ditto.” Shane replied raising his hand in the air.
“Well, what do you accept from me? I’m infatuated with the boy.”
“Isn’t there a stronger word for infatuated?” Shane asked looking around.
“Obsessed?” Madison suggested.
“Ha, ha… keep making fun of me go ahead. I hope he breaks your heart Maddy, or something.” Tony said as he stomped out of the hotel room.
“I think we pissed him off.” Shane said laughing.
“But it’s so much fun and so damn easy.”
Shane nodded in agreement and then he stopped laughing as well as Madison and they sat there in silence.
“He called me Maddy, the little shit.” Madison said interrupting the silence that settled over them.
Shane snorted in reply.
“He wasn’t serious about the whole heart breaking thing, you think?” Madison asked looking over at Shane.
“Highly doubt it my dear.”
Madison nodded and sat there quietly while Shane looked at her. She looked over at him and smiled weakly and then back at the original spot on the wall she had been staring at.
“What are you thinking about?”
Madison shrugged. “A lot of things.”
“Care to share?” Shane asked with a grin.
She looked over at him. “Can I trust you?” She asked cocking an eyebrow.
“Sure you can.” Shane replied sweetly.
Madison was quiet for a minute looking around the room and then said, “Never mind forget I said anything.”
“What? Why? Who’s it about?”
Madison laughed a little and said, “Tony.”
“What about him?”
“Nothing never mind forget it ok?” Madison said as she got up and started to walk to her bedroom.
“Ok.” Shane said quietly as he watched her walk in her room and closed the door gently.
“She’s hiding something.” He said as he stared at the door for a minute and then got up and walked out of the room.
