~August 2003~

"So you are how many weeks late?" Nikki asked Jana over the phone.

"Three."

"Don’t you think you are jumping to conclusions?"

"No."

"Then take a pregnancy test."

"I’m scared to."

"Why?"

Jana sighed on the other end of the phone.

"You going to tell me or am I going to have to guess?"

"I’m not sure if Nick is going to be the father." Jana said quietly.

"WHAT?" Nikki screamed into the phone.

Jana dropped the phone and could hear Nikki screaming into it while it laid on the floor. She slowly picked it up trying to make out what Nikki was saying. "What are you saying?"

"Who else’s could it be?" She asked angrily.

"Shawn." Jana whispered.

"Who?"

"Shawn." Jana said a little louder.

"Oh God help me please tell me I’m hearing things. God Jana please fucking tell me you did not just say Shawn."

Jana was quiet.

"Fuck, Jana what the hell is wrong with you? You are about to marry Nick fucking Carter and you go and cheat on him with some old fling? What is going on in your head?"

"I don’t know." Jana snapped angrily.

"Obviously."

"Fuck you."

"No fuck you. You are so fucking stupid."

"Thanks you’re a great friend."

"Shut up. Are you going to the doctor anytime soon? Because you have to find out, it’s a must. What did you sleep with Shawn while you were in town and then come home and fuck Nick?"

"God will you stop, this is serious."

"I know its serious damn it." Nikki snapped.

"Well just stop."

"Whatever."

They were both silent.

"Jana? What if it isn’t Nick’s? What are you going to do?" Nikki asked in a calm voice.

Jana was quiet.

"Jana?"

"I don’t know. I don’t want to lose him." Jana cried into the phone.

//The Next Day\\

"So you talked to Jana yesterday?" Brian asked Nick as they sat in the hotel restaurant eating breakfast.

Nick nodded as he ate his cereal.

"Everybody ok?"

"Yeah." Nick said as he looked up at Brian.

"What? Why are you looking at me like that?" Brian asked looking at Nick weird.

"No reason bro. Guilty conscience or something?"

"No." Brian replied as AJ walked in and started walking over to them.

"Hey guys can I join you?" AJ asked standing in front of their table.

They shook their heads ‘yes’ and Brian scooted over then AJ sat down.

"So what were you guys talking about?" AJ asked looking at Nick then Brian.

"I was asking Nick is everybody home was ok."

"What happened?" AJ asked.

"Nothing, I just talked to Jana yesterday and Brian was just being nosey." Nick replied taking a drink of his orange juice.

"Oh, so is Jana still bitchy as ever?" AJ asked laughing.

Nick laughed lightly and said, "Yeah, not as bad as before. But she will be when I get home I know that for sure. Nikki is going to be spending some time with us and she always brings the bitchiness out in Jana."

"Nikki and her husband visiting?" AJ asked curiously.

"Nope that’s why she is coming they are getting a divorce." Nick replied.

AJ perked up. "Oh really?" He asked raising his eyebrow.

Jana slowly walked up the stairs and into the guest bedroom. Nikki was lying on the bed staring out the window on her side.

"Nikki?"

"Jana."

"You pissed at me?" She asked quietly as she sat down on the window seat.

"Not really anymore."

"I’m sorry."

"Yeah."

"I am." Jana said defensively.

"Ok." Nikki said looking at her weird.

Jana looked around the room while Nikki continued to stare out the window.

"What have you been thinking about?" Jana asked.

Nikki laughed and said, "Absolutely nothing."

"Seriously, you have just been laying here?" Jana asked as she laughed lightly.

"Uh huh."

"Why is this awkward?"

Nikki shrugged as she looked up at Jana.

"I really am sorry for what I said." Jana said as she walked over to the bed sitting down.

"Yeah I shouldn’t have brought that up, I know you were already thinking about it."

"Let’s just forget it."

Nikki smiled and said, "Ok." Then she leaned over and hugged Jana.

"I love you girl." Jana said laughing.

"Ditto."

"So Nikki and her husband are getting a divorce?" AJ asked Nick while they were on a break.

Nick looked at AJ weird and said, "Uh… yeah."

"They weren’t together that long were they?"

Nick shrugged and said, "I’m not sure."

"They didn’t have any kids did they?"

"No, he couldn’t have kids or she couldn’t one of them can’t have kids." Nick said shrugging.

"Do you know why they are getting a divorce?"

"Nope, Jana didn’t go into details when I talked to her. Why?"

"I was just wondering man." AJ said laughing lightly as he walked out of the room. Nick looked at him strange as he walked out.

//One Week Later\\

"So what time is your flight?" Jana asked Nick over the phone.

"Uh… I think eight."

"Did you guys finish everything?"

"Yeah."

"Do you like the way it all came out?"

"I guess."

"What’s wrong?"

"Nothing." Nick said simply.

Jana sighed and said, "Ok well I guess I’ll see you when you get home."

"Yeah."

"I love you."

"Yeah, I love you too baby. Bye."

"You sure you don’t want me to pick you up?"

"No, it’s ok I’ll see you tomorrow."

"Ok."

"Bye."

"Bye." Jana said as she hung up the phone sighing.

"Is everything ok?" Nikki asked as she walked into the living room with Alyssa.

"Yeah." Jana said smiling watching Alyssa run to play with some toys on the floor.

"Excited Nick is coming home?"
