~September 12, 2003~

"Nick are you seriously telling me this two days before our wedding?" Jana asked Nick while they were getting ready for their wedding rehearsals.

"Yeah, last night after our talk I just decided that I had to tell you."

"Two fucking days before I marry you?" Jana yelled at him. "Fuck you. You had sex with another woman, while you were engaged to me, and I’m pregnant with your child and you don’t accept me to yell?"

"I told you I was drunk and my friends didn’t really help the situation."

"Well maybe you shouldn’t party so damn much." Jana said as she sat down on the bed crossing her arms over her chest.

"I’m sorry Jana." Nick said quietly as he sat down next to her.

"Nick I don’t know what to say to you. I don’t know if I can marry you anymore." Jana said looking at him.

"What do you want me to say? I’ll do anything to make things right."

"I don’t want you to say anything you don’t want to say." Jana replied then stood up and walked out of the room. Jana sat on the couch staring off into space crying. Just thinking about what she should do, she knew in all reality she didn’t have the strength to walk away from Nick. Because she didn’t want to raise the baby on her own and she loved him to much to give up. She knew no matter what she would forgive him, she just prayed that it wouldn’t be a mistake.

"Jana." Nick whispered as he sat down next to her on the couch.

She looked over at him and then back to the spot on the wall she was staring at.

"Jana, I’m so sorry. But I can’t lose you; I can’t lose the only person I’ve ever really loved."

"You love me?" Jana asked looking at him raising her eyebrows.

"Jana when I’m around you I can’t breathe and when you’re not around I don’t want to breathe. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. And damn it, it took me way to long to get you and if you think I’m not going to put up a fight to make you stay, you’re wrong. I can’t live without you in my life. I know I messed up big time. It’s all my fault, I admit it. But please forgive; I don’t think I could go on with out you."

Jana stared at him tears falling down her face. She opened her mouth to say something but she just continued to cry. She tried again but she couldn’t get it out, she threw her arms down in frustration and started to laugh.

"You ok?" Nick asked smirking a little.

"Nick… you’ve said sweet things before but that tops anything you’ve ever said." Jana said slowly looking at him.

"So?"

"So what?"

"Are we going to get married?"

Jana leaned in and kissed him passionately. "Yes." She said sighing against his lips then leaned in to kiss him intensely.

Nick walked into their bedroom to see Jana laying face down on the bed. He smiled then slowly made his way over to the bed.

"You’re brave Carter." Jana mumbled as Nick laid down next to her.

"What can I say I like to take risks?" Nick said as he put his arm around her.

"Are you trying to get fresh? Because I’m still mad at you."

Nick laughed lightly and said, "Did you really have something planned today?"

"No." Jana said.

"Then why did you get mad?"

"Because you always do that to me, and then the kids would rather be with you than me. And plus I didn’t want to do anything today because you’re leaving tomorrow and well it’s obvious that I’m going to miss you."

"Then we’ll stay home. And Jana it’s only going to be two weeks tops."

"But I’m not sure if I can handle being her alone with the kids."

"You’ve done it before."

"For a couple of days and then your mom pops in. But this is two whole weeks by myself and without your mom’s little visits."

"You can do it." Nick said kissing her forehead.

"Speaking of the children what are they doing?"

"Probably tearing something up or breaking something."

"Just like you." Jana said as she snuggled closer to Nick laying her head on his chest.

"I’m going to go back downstairs."

"No, you’re comfortable." Jana said pouting.

"Ok I’ll stay here and the kids can burn the house down."

Jana groaned as she moved off of him. He kissed her head then jumped off the bed and went back downstairs.

//The Next Day\

"Jana, I’m getting ready to leave." Nick said as he nudged Jana’s side trying to wake her up.

Jana groaned in reply.

"Jana get up." Nick said pushing her harder.

"Fuck, I’m up." She mumbled against the pillow opening one eye glaring at Nick.

Nick smiled in triumph and said, "I’m leaving in twenty minutes."

"Are the kids up?" Jana asked rubbing her eyes.

"Yeah."

Jana pouted while Nick laughed and walked out of the bedroom.

~June 2004~

"Why is that I’m always saying goodbye to you?" Jana asked Nick as they hugged.

"I’m sorry baby. I know it was short notice but it’s only two days."

"This is the first time I’m going to be alone with Trenton." Jana said looking at Nick with a sad face as they separated.

"You’ll be fine." He replied kissing her gently.

"Bye Nick." She said quietly.

"Bye baby I love you."

"Love you too." She said kissing him again. He walked to the door blew her a kiss and walked out of the door. Jana sighed as she headed upstairs to check on Trenton.

"I hate saying goodbye to you." Jana whined as she hugged Nick.

"I know." Nick replied quietly as they separated.

"Bye baby girl. Be good for mommy." Nick said as he picked up Alyssa and hugged her.

"Bye daddy love you." Alyssa said hugging Nick back.

Nick kissed her forehead and set her back down on the floor.

"Bye buddy." Nick said as he kneeled down hugging Trenton.

"Bye daddy."

"Be good." Nick said looking at Trenton.

Trenton smiled, the Carter smile, and said, "Always daddy."

Nick rolled his eyes and said, "I love you buddy."

"Love you too daddy." Trenton said then ran off into the living room.

"I’ll miss you." Nick said looking at Jana.

"Nick its only two weeks."

"That’s it pretend to be tough."

"Shut up."

Nick pulled her close to him. "I love you." He said quietly the leaned in to kiss her slowly.

Jana moaned as she deepened the kiss.

Nick pulled back and said, "I have to go."

"I love you bye." Jana said frowning.

Nick laughed. "I’ll call you."

"You better." Jana replied pointing at him, as he walked out the door.

//Later That Day\\

"So how is everything?" Nikki asked Jana over the phone later that day.

"Ok I guess. Nick left early this morning. Trenton is at school and Alyssa is with Jane now because she is leaving to do something with Aaron so she’ll be gone for a few days."

"You’re happy about that huh?"

"Jane hates me of course I am."

"But Alyssa is her little angel isn’t she?"

"Oh yeah."

"So I was thinking about coming down and visiting you guys."

"Really?" Jana asked excitedly.

"Yeah."

"When?"

"I don’t know, when is good for you?"

"Now." Jana said laughing.

"Maybe."

"Is Mike going to come with you?"

"No."

"Why not?"

"We’re getting a divorce. That’s why I want to come and visit you guys."

"What happened?"

"I’d rather not talk about it now."

"Ok." Jana replied hesitantly.

"I’m going to go though see about flights I’ll call you back later and let you know what’s going on."

"Ok."

"Bye Jana."

"Bye girl. I love you."

Nikki started to laugh and said, "Love you too girl."
