"So who is it?" One of the officers in the back asked.

Jana sighed again and looked up at Nick.

"Yeah Jana who is it?" He asked calmly.

"Jana?" Nikki asked quietly.

Jana looked over at Nikki and sighed.

"Is it who I think it is?" Nikki whispered while Jana nodded.

"So?" Officer Martin asked.

"It’s my ex Shawn." Jana said quietly as she stared at her hands.

Nick started glaring at Jana, she did all she could to avoid all eye contact with him.

"Does he live in Florida?" Officer Martin asked.

Jana shook her head. "No he lives in Missouri, well he did I’m not sure where he is now."

"When was the last time you spoke with him?" He asked while Nick looked at her interested in her response.

"It’s been a few years." She said softly as she continued to stare at her hands.

"Why do you think he would want to Trenton?" An officer in the back asked softly.

Jana just shrugged.

"Ok, so you are sure it’s him?"

She nodded.

"We’ll need anything information on him you can give us."

She nodded again.

Jana spent the next hour telling Officer Martin anything and everything about Shawn she could think of while Nick and Nikki stood outside his office.

"Ok, Jana I’ll ask you one more time. Do you have any idea why he would want to do this?"

Jana sighed and held back the tears that threatened to fall. "No I don’t know why he would want to do this." Jana nodded.

"You can go home now." He said looking at her.

"Ok, thanks." Jana said softly as she stood up and then left his office.

"We can go." Jana said as she closed the door to Officer Martin’s office and looked at Nick and Nikki then she began to walk towards the door to leave.

Nick and Nikki got up from their seats and started to follow Jana slowly out of the police station.

They rode home in silence; Nick was confused and wanted to ask Jana a million questions but was thinking twice about it. Nikki knew Jana was holding something back and she was determined to find out. Jana didn’t even know what to think.

They got home and immediately Nikki pulled Jana to the back door and outside on the patio.

"Gees… what?" Jana asked annoyed when they got outside.

"You’re hiding something."

"What? I am not."

Nikki laughed lightly and said, "Yes you are, I know you Jana I can tell you’re hiding something."

"I am not damn it." Jana replied angrily.

"Then why are you getting angry?" Nikki asked softly.

Jana threw her hands up in frustration and turned around making her way down by the ocean with Nikki reluctantly following her. Jana sat down and pulled her knees to her chest as she stared at the ocean. Nikki sat down beside her not saying anything.

"Nikki." Jana said softly as she rested her chin on her knees.

"Yeah?"

"I’ve really fucked up this time."

"What do you mean?" Nikki asked confused. "I don’t get what you’re saying."

"I don’t even know where to start."

"The beginning would be excellent." Nikki said with a small smile.

Jana laughed a little and said, "I really don’t think I can. I mean I want to but I don’t think I should. I’m afraid if I say it out loud then it will make things worse and someone will find out."

"That someone being Nick?"

Jana nodded as she began to cry softly. "God Nikki you were so right, he is amazing and he is just everything I’ve always wanted and I always fuck it up. I always knew what I was doing but I just did it you know. It was like I just didn’t want to disappoint him, I was afraid that if I did then he wouldn’t want to be with me anymore?"

"After all this time you think he’d just leave you?"

"No, like when it was happening when I did it I was afraid of disappointing him you know. I always wanted to be perfect for him."

"I’m not really following you here."

"I know I’m not making any sense, I’m kind of just thinking out loud." Jana said as she shrugged and then wiped away her tears.

"So are you going to tell me what you are hiding from everyone?"

Jana shrugged.

"Ok well I’ll stay here until you know ok?"

"Yeah." Jana whispered.

They sat in silence just staring at the ocean. Nikki was wondering what Jana was thinking and Jana was wondering what Nikki was thinking as well as what Nick was doing.

Jana sighed and said quietly, "I know why Shawn took Trenton."

"Why?" Nikki asked as she looked at Jana.

Jana took a deep breath. "Because-"

"Jana?" Nick asked as he approached the girls.

Jana turned around quickly and watched Nick walk over to them.

"I’m going to go get Alyssa now." He said as he stood behind them.

"Ok." Jana said softly looking up at him.

"Are you alright?" He asked bending down to look her in the eyes.

She nodded holding back the new tears that were forming.

"Ok." He said smiling slightly then he leaned in and kissed her gently on the lips. "I love you." He said against her lips then kissed her again and stood up. "I’ll be back in a bit." He said then turned around and made his way back to the house.

Jana turned back around resting her chin on her knee again as she began to cry. Nikki watched Jana wanting her to finish what she was going to say but then opting against it because Jana seemed so upset at that point.

Jana continued to cry for a few more minutes but it was lessened. Finally, Nikki decided to see if Jana was ready to finish.

"Jana?"

Jana looked over at Nikki with her eyes red. "Yeah, I know." She replied quietly.

"Take your time." Nikki said reassuringly.

"I know you Nikki you are dying to know." Jana said laughing.

Nikki began to laugh. "Yeah you’re right it’s killing me."

Jana laughed slightly but it quickly faded away and she continued to stare out at the ocean. "You know when I told you that I wasn’t sure Nick was Trenton’s father. And just all the shit revolving around that."

"Uh… yeah."

"Well there was something I left out, well more than something a few things actually."

"Yeah." Nikki replied almost scared of the direction this conversation was going.

"I slept with Shawn more than once." "You know what came after that."

"Yeah I do. You got pregnant and then you weren’t sure that Nick was the father until you went to the doctor. Right?"

"Some of it." Jana replied quietly.

"Huh?" Nikki asked really scared of what she was going to say now.

Jana laid the side of her face on her as she stared at Nikki. Nikki looked down at Jana trying to read her expression, but failing miserably. Nikki just wanted to shake Jana and get whatever she was hiding to just come out, she couldn’t take it anymore. She was thinking the worst possible thing but when it came to Jana and the stupid things she did they turned out to be the worst possible thing anyone could ever think of. Nikki just hoped that this one time she was wrong because if she ended up being right, then Jana would definitely lose all that she has right now.

"I lied. I lied about a lot of things and now they are all catching up with me. I guess I couldn’t hide this forever, but I sure did hope to."

"What? Damn it Jana just tell me you’ve dragged out long enough I have to know or I’m going to have to do something drastic."

"Damn girl, this is hard for me to admit. I’m not exactly proud of it."

"Then why did you do it?"

"Because I don’t think before I act. God I don’t even know why anymore or if there was even a reason why."

"So what did you lie about?"
