Elijah Gates Camp - Grave Preservation One of the purposes and principles of the Elijah Gates Camp is to preserve the history of the Confederacy and of the South. One of the activities to help preserve history is through the preservation of the graves of the men who fought so bravely during the "War Between The States". The Elijah Gates Camp is proud of its duty to preserve the resting place of so many men that are buried in Audrain, Callaway, Montgomery - Counties, Missouri. The United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) furnishes upon request, at no charge to the applicant, a Government headstone or marker to mark the grave of a veteran. All shipping expenses are paid by the government. However grave preparation and setting of the stone is not. If you have a confederate ancestor or know of a Confederate soldier who is buried in Callaway, Montgomery, Audrain Counties and does not have a tombstone, please contact the Elijah Gates Camp. The Elijah Gates Camp is also compiling a list of Confederate soliders buried in Audrain, Callaway, Montgomery Counties.
