More pictures to come.... Finally rebuilt my scanner(1/10/00)

This page is under construction

This is the stripped frame with the original motor, 3 speed tranny, and 4:11 geared rearend. Sitting next to it is the Camero sub-frame that we would soon add.

Wouldn't you know it. About 2 months later, Custom and Classic Trucks printed a very detailed article about the Camaro IFS swap. We did a pretty good job, and did everything that was in the article!

After leveling everything up and measuring for square about 20 times, we cut off the original front clip just behind the spring pearch and just in front of the cab mount.

We thought we would be smart and move the old motor/suspension out of the way to where the Camaro hull was. What an ordeal that was. We ran into some strange physics principles on that one. It took us almost an hour to roll it 20 feet!

Positioning the new suspension. We cut a slot in the Camaros sub-frame so that trucks frame would slide right into it. The trucks frame was a little taller than the Camaros which was for the best as it allowed us to weld it on all 4 sides. We also boxed the trucks frame to just behind the front cab mounts.

We then tacked everything up, rechecked for square, and then made our final welds (of course, I ended up redoing some of them about 2 years later...).

We then took all of the parts and frame out to have them blasted. It was almost inspiring the day the frame came back. Everything looked fresh and new. I think it might have been the next day that I had it primed and painted. The frame and suspension parts were painted GM colors. Light Fawn Metallic and Dark Fawn Metallic. The colors arent just your ordinary Silver and Dark Gray. They have a really cool hint of green to them.

Drop me a line!
