Movie Summaries

Yes, there are a few Republican actors and actresses, but fewer conservatives than Republicans, I'm afraid. Hollywood was owned by the commies in the 50's and they've never let go. Check out the New Jersey GOP website for profiles of prominent Republican men and women celebrities, from Heather Locklear to Bo Derek to Al Leiter. I've included this page to highlight the few stars do have and which of their movies I can recommend.

"10"
Republican actress: Bo Derek
Starring: Dudley Moore
This movie is Hilarious! It's really not about Bo Derek; it's all about Dudley Moore's character and his mid-life crisis. It probably helps that I was slightly inebriated, but I was rolling on the floor laughing. Brilliant movie, highly enjoyable. The soundtrack is by Henry Mancini (right on!) and while Bo Derek isn't the main attraction she IS still H-O-T. I'll never listen to Ravel or Prokofiev the same way again!!!

True Lies
Republican actors: Arnold Schwarzenegger & Charlton Heston
Plus: Tia Carrere, Jamie Lee Curtis
Fun in a goofy way -- Schwarzenegger is a spy and his wife (JL Curtis) doesn't know. Not a hard core action movie by any means. Tia Carrere is hot -- unfortunately for her career this is one of the best movies she's been in. Not great I found the Jamie Lee Curtis character annoying, as I have in all her movies, although I think she actually acts in this one. Tom Arnold keeps things moving as Arnold's handler/partner and makes a couple good cracks.

This movie has been criticized by leftists for casting Arabs as terrorists, 'cause we all know that's just such a misconception, and no Arabs, and certainly none of those peace-loving Muslims, have ever done anything wrong, the WTC notwithstanding. Kudos to the film for casting someone other than angry white men as terrorists. Compare that to The Sum of All Fears, where Tom Clancy's Muslim terrorists from his excellent and prescient book turn into white racists in the movie, a Ben Affleck vehicle (ha!).

Armageddon
Republican actor: Bruce Willis
Plus: Billy Bob Thornton, Ben Affleck, Liv Tyler, Steve Buscemi & Owen Wilson
Bruce Wills stars as Harry Stamper, an oil driller called upon to destroy an asteroid heading for Earth. Not only is the star Republican but the heroes are OIL DRILLERS. Yup, the guys who set up oil rigs, come to save the day: regular Joes, no liberal elites in this bunch. Guess they didn't get the memo that oil is evil. Unfortunately the movie itself is Forgettable -- or I wish I could forget it. The supporting cast is calculated to annoy (aside from Liv "Call Me Arwen" Tyler) and the theme song is "I Don't Want to Miss A Thing", which grates on my ears like you wouldn't believe. If you don't have a problem with those, the rest is real good, though Bruce is more dramatic than amusing in this one.

The Mask
Features Republican Ben Stein as a psychiatrist who assures Jim Carrey that "we all wear masks" . . . follow the link to the review.
