You Know What I Mean?

"You know what I mean?",
Oh, how I miss those words'
As you watched your favorite movie,
I miss the laughter that was heard.

I remember all your collections,
You had tools, Legos and stamps;
You had nutcrackers and switch plates,
You loved to work and you loved to camp.

You wanted so badly to connect,
But many did not understand;
People need to learn and love,
The disabled of our land.

You weren't a quiet person,
Whatever came to mind was spoken;
You found so much joy in life,
Even though your body was broken.

When days are gray and dreary,
And with work I'm not keen;
I only have to remember you,
And "You know what I mean?"

I miss Joe every day but I know he is happy now and not suffering so that makes me happy. He was a brave soul while he was here and his greatest desire was to make sure others were taken care of.
