The last song, "MMMBop". Everyone knew it was coming. It's practically a tradition, but I was beginning to wonder what it would be like if we squeezed in another song too.
"Hey Ike, ask if we could fit in 'Gimme Some Lovin'" He nodded and asked the announcer who was watching on the side. He nodded and I told Ike to tell Zac and Binkies.
"Okay Jess, Do you know Gimme Some Lovin' " I asked.
*Jess*"Like the back of my hand!" I replied. Then he gave the usual "Get Ready" signal and the 1, 2, 3, signal and we started the "DA DA DA DA DA DA" piano chords to start the song. I was getting pretty good at my timing I have to admit! Normally I was just 1 second off, but all those hours of practicing finally paid off! Soon we were on the chorus, "Gimme Some Lovin', Gimme Some Lovin', Gimme Some Lovin', Gimme Some Lovin' !" We all sang. Then Bianca dropped a drumstick, and ironically, she didn't have any spares, so Zac told her to take one of his. Luckily, it all happened so fast that hardly any rythem was lost all thanks to Zac, because the instant it happened he played a little louder so it sounded like 2 people were still playing. Good 'Ol Zac to the rescue!
*BIANCA*
Aw Man! I blew it! Thank my lucky stars no one saw!
"Thanks Zac!" I whispered as Ike did his solo.
"Sure, anytime!" he replied as the chorus came back.
Lucky enough, there were no more mishaps after that and we ended the song with the drums.
This time I didn't even have to look at the list to see what song was next. But just to be on the safe side, I looked anyway, "MMMBop" just as I had suspected.
"Hey Jess, since my congas are on your left side, do you want to switch places?" Tay asked me. Then I glanced and there they were, 2 huge congas. So I nodded and walked over to his keyboard and moved the mic closer to him since we had to share.
"Hey Tay, I don't think that Diamond Bay should sing this one, it wouldn't feel right." I said as I moved the mic closer to him.
"No, we want you to sing it with us! It will be Diamond Bay and Hanson's song! So whenever you hear it, you can think of us, and today." He said as he pushed the mic back to where it was, in between us. I smiled my reply. It was all I did, I didn't need words. Then he smiled back and gave the signals. 1, 2, 3, Then we started the chords. While we were still playing, he whispered to me," When I go to the congas, play a little louder okay." I nodded and we started to harmonize the ever popular tune.
"You have so many relationships in this life, only one or two will last. You're going through all this pain and strife, then you turn your back and they're gone so fast. And they're gone so fast. So hold on to the ones who really care, in the end they'll be the only ones there, and when you get old and start loosing your hair, can you tell me who will still care? Can you tell me who will still care. Ooh care.
MMMBop ba duba dop ba du bop, ba duba dop be du bop ba duba dop ba du yeah yeah.
MMMBop ba duba dop ba du bop, ba duba dop be du bop, ba duba dop ba du yeah yeah."
