As soon as every aspect of the house had been captured on film, I locked the door and ran outside to the van, it had only abou 3 bags in it because we were taking a plane, and the rest of our stuff was going to get there a little before us. We were having everything shipped to the new house. Taking one last look at the house that I had spent 15 years in, I hopped in the van and we pulled out of the driveway. I waved to Binkies and her family who was standing on the lawn waving and shouting good byes to us.
As soon as Binkies and her family were out of site, I turned back around in my seat and stared out my passenger window. Mom had been gone for almost a month now, and things were beginning to look up, but dad still hasn't told me where we were moving to, and I was getting curious. But I decided earilier, that I would rather be surprised.
I patted Gus on the head, he was sitting in the backseat with our two cats Sarah and Socks, two hamsters Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb, one small corn snake named Izzo. It was a full house in the back seat. And he also was in the middle of our three bags, so he was going to be pretty uncomfortable for the trip to the LAX airport. But I kept talking to my pets, and they seemed pretty content, but anxious.
But soon enough, we reached LAX and headed to the terminal where our little private jet waited. Dad said that the plane belonged to the people at his new job, and they had sent it to pick us up in. So we got two pet carriers, one for Gus, and the other for both cats.
I told the guy who was loading our stuff that the animals had to be inside with us, and he said okay, and I gave him the hamsters to load. I took Izzo out of his small cage and wrapped him around my finger. Yes he was that small! Then he fell asleep. I knew that all of this stress would get him pretty scared, so I took him onboard the plane with me.
Dad was already on one of the window seats on the left, there were only four seats in the whole plane for passengers, so I took the right side window seat accross from him. The animals were strapped in the very back, their carriers were strapped into the two last seats, and the hamster cage was strapped onto the floor. Everything looked secure, so we began to take off. So I put Izzo in my front pocket of my sleeveless denim shirt, and I got my CD player out. I put in Middle Of Nowhere, and I put my headphones on. I cranked up the volume to nine, and I smiled, remembering that I was actually listening to my friends!
Then, when I was settled, with my headphones on, my candy bag on the tray table, and my note pad and pen in front of me, I began writing a letter:
Dear Tay,
It's Jess, and you'll never guess where I'm writing from, AN AIRPLANE! We're, at this very moment, moving. I don't know where though, dad still hasn't told me, but when I do find out, I will definately call you and tell you. So how are things going with you and your family? I miss you all a lot, but don't worry, dad said that I could visit sometime soon! Then I could show you Izzo, my huge GIGANTIC snake! No, just kidding, when he's curled up, he's only the size of a quarter. But he's so adorable!
Things sure are different without mom. I miss her a lot, but thanks to you and Ike and Zac, I'm not that sad. And if you hadn't have said the things you did, I would probably be in therapy or something! But things are going good, and I'm glad that I am living with dad. Not that there was anything wrong with living with mom, but I think that this is okay. It could be worse! I could be living with Aunt Mildred! Oh, I shudder at the thought! Well, we're going to land soon, so I had better end this! Bye, see ya soon, I hope!
Love Always and Forever,
Jessica and Gus
