MMMBopin' Miracles Chapter 36

As soon as we pulled up to the driveway, I jumped out with the whole Hanson family and Gus following me. We reached the reception desk and she lady told me where my mom was, so we sped to her room at the third floor. On the way, a couple of people recognized my friends and started to freak out, but we made it without any trouble. At least twice, the nurses tried to tell us that dogs weren't allowed, but I just kept on running.

When we reached room 601, we slowed down and went in, I walked over to the bed where my mom lay, and where my dad was sitting next to her on the bed holding her hand. The Hanson's waited at the door as I stood on the opposite side of the bed where my dad could see me. He looked up at me with sadness in his face. He rose from her side and walked over to me and lead me to a corner of the room where no one could hear us.

"Jess, I should tell you what happened." He said sitting down and motioning for me to sit next ot him on the couch. "At around 7:30 last night, mom was coming home from work, and she was hit by a drunk teenager. The drunk was killed instantly, but your mom is very hurt, and well, we don't know how long she'll be with us." He said shakily.

"What's wrong with her?" I asked, my eyes welled up with tears, but I dared not to let them fall.

"She is suffering from a broken back, head trama, and internal bleeding. Or at least that's what the doctor said." He said looking down. I rose up from the couch and wlaked over to her and sat down on the chair next to her and I took her hand. She woke up and smiled at me.

"Hello Jessica." She said wearily. I knew that it was because of the morphine. I was glad for it, at least she wasn't in any pain.

"Jessica, I know that I probably will not live too long, but I just wanted to appologize to you." she choked her words, it must have been hard for her to talk. I glanced over at Ike, Tay, and Zac who were still standing there, and a tear escaped from my eye and I wiped it away.

My mom glanced over at them and smiled. " I see your wish finally came true." she said. "I hope that they can be better to you than I was. At least they can give you the attention I never could." she said looking back at me.

They walked out of the room along with my dad and Gus, they all realized that we needed to be alone. I tried to stop my mom's grief, but she hushed me, and continued.

"Jessica, I am truely sorry for not always being there for you when you needed me. I'm sorry that I took my job to seariously, and I am really sorry that I wasn't a better mother." she appologized as she quickly squinted. I glanced at her drip, it was low on morphine so I guess that the pain was coming back.

"Mom, you weren't a bad mother. I understood that you had a job and that you couldn't be at two places at the same time. And I also understood that you were woking so hard so you could give me a better future. And because I knew all of this, I matured fast, and you gave me everything that I couldn't learn that fast, like responsibility. And I really thank you for that. You were the best mother that you could be, and I love you mom." I said taking her other hand.

"Well, I'm glad that you knew all this, and are the perfect little lady, and my life wouldn't be complete without you Jessica. Because you complete me." she said to me. Then all was forgiven without even a word spoken and all was good. Then she closed her eyes, and she let go of my hands. I heard the beeeep of her heart meeter, and it was over, she had gone to take her place among the angels.

Standing there, helpless, I exited the room, taking only a moment to look back at my mother's limp body. Then I slowly turned, and headed towards the waiting room where I knew everybody would be.
