Chopper came into the shelter in May of 2000.
The staff named him Nash Jr. after a kitty
I had adopted in December of 1999.
We often named the new ones after one that
had been adopted for good luck.
This little one did not like his cage at all
and would climb the bars and meow all day.
Dawn and Todd came into the shelter one day to see me
and just went in to look at the cats.
Little Nash Jr.took their hearts right away.
He was now to be known as "CHOPPER",
named after THEIR favorite Blues Hockey player.
He never cried again like he did at the shelter.
Now when he opened his mouth this little squeak would come out.
Thats all he ever said.
Dawn kept me up to date on Chopper
saying he was demon possesed from all his antics.
They had never had a kitten like him,
there wasn't anything he wouldn't do or get into.
Dawn used to put water in the bottom of the tub
because Chopper liked to play in it.
They had to put towels down under his water bowl,
because he would sling water everywhere.
Dawn and Todd taught Chopper to do tricks on command.
When we would go over the first thing he would do was jump
on the cabinet and take his right paw and touch his nose.
He would stand there forever touching
his nose when you asked him to,
because he always got a treat.
He would also sit and beg.
He was very special.
Chopper died suddenly February 2.
He wasn't even two years old.
Everyone was totally shocked.
Why would this happen?
He had regular health checkups,
was very healthy,
and never showed any symtoms of any problems.
I still can not believe that Chopper is gone.
I have asked Dawn to write something about
Chopper, but it is too soon.
When she is ready, I will tell you more about Chop
and what he brought into our lives.
Chopper, know that we love and miss you
and show those other kitties you are with
how to touch their nose with their paw.
You were so smart and sweet.
