I'm sure you've heard of Katie Holmes. She has been playing Joey Potter on the hit T.V.
series Dawson's Creek. In July of 1995, Katie attented IMTA's annual "Hooray for Hollywood" Convention in
New York City. There she met a talent manager who told her to go to L.A. for T.V.'s pilot
season. Six months later she got the role in Ang Lee's Ice Storm. She was offered the part
of Buffy in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, but she turned it down so she could finish high
school.
She participated in a play at her high school called "Damn Yankees". This almost cost her the
role of Joey on Dawson's Creek because the play was on the same night as the audition
but she wouldn't let her school down. However they were so impressed with her audition
tape that they were willing to reschuedule. After, she graduated in 1997, that summer she
started filming Dawson's Creek.
