MISCELLANIOUS
HOMEMADE HAYRACK
I use scrap cage wire cut about 4" W x 8" L. I leave the cut ends long enough to roll
over to eliminate sharp points, and to make the hanging hooks. Then bend it into the
V-shape. Once hung on the cage wall, I bend the hooks tight to stay put. It's a sturdy,
safe, and cheap way to keep the hay clean and in one place. Well, most of the time.
There are those buns who make a ritual of strewing their fresh hay all over their cage.
TOYS
Sometimes a bunny needs something to occupy their time. They are busy or bored, and
might begin to chew wire. Those bunnies need toys. All of my buns get a block of clean
white pine for chewing, and I replace as needed when chewed to nothing, or soiled.
Sometimes a hard plastic cat toy is a nice diversion. For those buns that bang their
furniture around, dig, or chew wire, I've found tin cans make fine toys. I remove the
tab and rinse thoroughly, of course. They love to push and toss them around. Beer cans
are fun because it makes visiters to the rabbitry laugh to see a bunny with a seemingly
alcoholic habit.
