This area contains advanced strategies and tricks for both GDI and Nod.
I play this game a lot so I know what strategies work. Other sites have
dumb strategies that almost never work. All of these strategies are straightforward,
plus they are extremely effective. Note: All build orders are just reccomendations.
Feel free to e-mail any
strategies or tips. If I think they are good enough I will post them. I
will give you credit in red (if its not in
red then I made it). What I really need is Nod strategies.
GDI
Strategies:
-
Orca Fighter rush (lowest tech- 5):
-
This is a simple strategy that can be really effective. With 5 Orca Fighters
you can destroy an MCV. The fastest way to get five fighters is this:
-
Deploy MCV.
-
Build 1 power plant.
-
Build 1 refinery.
-
Build 1 radar (at this time you may want to build a barracks and some Jump
Jet Infantry to scout with).
-
Build 1 helipad.
-
Build 5 fighters.
-
Note that you can do this with starting money if it is 10000. Also, 5 fighters
is the very least you can have. If they have a SAM or two or other air
attack units, you should make 6 or 7 fighters instead.
-
How to defend:
-
Defense is really simple. Simply put an engineer by your MCV and when the
fighters come, wait until your MCV is about half destroyed and send the
engineer in to heal it completely. The fighters will run out of ammunition
and your MCV will be saved.
-
Disrupter rush (lowest tech- 9):
-
This strategy is more complex but it is extremely effective. Disrupter
rushing requires disrupters and carryalls. Simply pick up the disrupter
with the carryall and drop it by an important building such as an MCV.
An example way to get a disrupter and carryall quickly is this:
-
Deploy MCV.
-
Build 1 power plant.
-
Build 1 or 2 refineries.
-
Build 1 barracks.
-
Build 1 war factory.
-
Begin building 2 or 3 extra harvesters.
-
Build 1 radar.
-
Build 1 helipad.
-
Build 1 tech center.
-
Sell tech center.
-
Begin building disrupters.
-
Build 1 repair depot.
-
Build carryalls.
-
(make extra power plants when necessary)
-
You must examine enemy defense in order to decide how many disrupters to
attack with. Two is a good number if his defense is moderate. Note that
this can also be used with a mammoth, but don't send a mammoth alone, its
not worth it. Its a good idea to lead with an empty carryall to distract
enemy sams. Here's a trick: to increase the effectiveness of your attack,
use Ctrl to fire through the building with your disrupters. This will cause
the damage to be almost twice as much as normal.
-
-
How to defend:
-
This is a tough one. One way is to make numerous air defenses to destroy
the carryalls. Another is to make tons of ground defense to destroy the
disrupters after they have landed. Always be sure you can re-build your
MCV too. However the best way to defend against disrupter rushing is to
simply destroy your enemy before he has a chance to do it.
Tricks:
-
Disk skipping (lowest tech- 2):
-
This trick is simple. Force fire with a disk thrower and the disk will
travel farther than where you told it to go. This gives you the ability
to destroy ground defenses while still staying out of the range of them.
This becomes even more effective while standing on the side of a cliff.
When thrown off a cliff your disks travel even farther, and usually the
enemy wont know where they're coming from.
-
Selling Vehicles:
-
If your vehicle has lots of damage then you can sell it by making it go
to the repair bay and when it gets on you click on the sell button and
move it over the vehicle and it should turn green then click to sell it.

Nod
Strategies:
-
Engineer rush:
-
Simple enough... just get the engeneers in the enemy's buildings. I would
usualy send them in an apc (airlift it with a carryall if you're GDI).
This works best if multi engneer is off but if you send enough of them,
it shouldn't matter. Build order:
-
Deploy MCV
-
Explore
-
Barracks
-
Refinery
-
Engineers (at times the enemy is dumb enough to leave his base undefended
and you can just walk them right on in)
-
Refinery
-
War Factory
-
Tech Center
-
Sell Tech Center
-
Sub-Terrainian APC
-
(make extra power plants when necessary)
-
Send the Sub-Terrainian APC full of engineers, and capture buildings!!
(you might want to make more APCs and add some other units in like a cyborg
commando and cyborgs)
-
How to defend:
-
This is also easy... VALLY OF THE WALLS... walls should be around EVERYTHING!
If they try this a lot you could put gates in front of the war factory
and refineries but the units are to dumb to lower it when coming out of
a barracks. Possibly use pavement if you're GDI, but if you're Nod, then
you should get that stealth generator running (to cancel that out if you
are GDI, try to explore the enemy base some more and mark the important
buildings with waypoints).

Tricks:
-
Take Out a Mammoth MK 2 With Ease:
-
You can try and be slick and use some ginnea pig unit to distract the Mammoth
MK 2 and then send a Mutant HiJacker into it to capture it (now you have
Mammoth!!!).

-
Terrain Leveler:
-
I don't think this really counts as a cheat, but it'll be really useful
to someone, so it's worth it. Anyway, if you are playing as NOD, and have
Artillery units, you can make them force-fire at annoyingly rocky terrain.
After a few salvos, the ground will give way under the ballistic charges,
and it will sink slightly(one level). This is useful if you deployed in
a mountainous area, and need some extra room to build. Also, both sides
can use their missles or ion cannon for the same purpose, although missles
have a large area of affect, so its up to you.

Stealth Generator Hint:
-
When you are NOD and can build a stealth generator, not only is there no
use for pavement but it hurts you as well. When you build pavement and
a generator the genrator does not put the pavement into stealth. so if
your playing against a friend (the computer is stupid so you can do it
with them) dont use pavement or they will be able to see where your base
is. However, if your playing with redeployable mcv's then you can throw
them off by moving it and putting pavement somewhere else and then moving
your mcv back.

Universal
Strategies:
Tricks:
-
Stop Tiberium Vein Growth:
-
To stop Tiberium Vein growth, send a Hover MRLS or Jump Jet Infantry into
the field (in case you haven't scouted it out yet). If you can see the
whole field then use Orca Bombers or Banshees for this. Look for what appears
to be a dark brown crater in the field. This "mouth" spews out veins. Tell
your units to attack it and it will be destroyed and veins will stop growing.

-
Sell the Tech Center:
-
After you build your Tech Center and have all the build options, you can
sell your Tech Center and you will not lose any build options. Note: If
a building gets detroyed or turned off (like a barracks, etc.) and you
don't have another one, when you rebuild you will lose the options the
Tech Center gave you.
