Part 3 - . . . And The Greatest Is Love

Chapter Thirty

By the spring of the following year plans were already underway for the next tour. Rebecca still did not like the thought of more touring, the consequences of which caused Scott to be away from his family were bad enough but even though they were both trying hard to put all of the past behind them it still loomed very large in her mind. The intimacy that they were rekindling was slowly resolving problems between them that had taken their toll over the last few years.

Yet she knew that the tour was still going to happen. The situation was different this time. Scott was talking to her. Most importantly Scott was not running away from anything this time.

They had already worked out a lot of details about the summer. Kyle would be graduating from high school in June and of course Scott would be home for that. Tour dates were arranged around it. That was a priority. There was also the graduation open house. That was worked into the schedule.

They were making sacrifices and consents on both sides. Scott would come home at every available opportunity. No more laying over in a hotel. That would be hard sometimes but he was willing to do that in order to be more available to his family. Rebecca did not want to feel that she was alone for those four months.

She would make concessions too. She had to be more understanding and tolerant of his being gone. She would go to meet him whenever possible with and even without the children. They had decided that time alone was also something that they needed to make a priority. But most of all Rebecca had to have trust. She had to be able to put the past behind them and go on from there. That was the most difficult part.

By the time rehearsals started for the next tour they seemed to have worked through many problems and set their marriage back on the right track, but as small riffs occurred, as they do in any marriage, Rebecca would dredge something up from the past. At first she found that this was having an affect because Scott would immediately go off feeling guilty and sorry for what he had done. She wasn’t even aware that she was doing it, but instinctively she was using his guilt as a weapon on her side. It was working, for awhile.

One day during an argument over something trivial she had turned it around voicing words that once again dug into his soul, but this time it was different. He was not going to let her do it again.

"Is this the way its always gonna be? Am I supposed to pay for this the rest of my life?" Scott snapped back at her from across the bed. He never gave her a chance to answer. "Well, I’m not gonna do it! Its done. Its over. I’m through talking. We’ve talked this into the ground. You know I’m sorry. God! You know I’m sorry, but I won’t be made to relive it for the rest of my life. If I didn’t love you I wouldn’t be here. You have to start trusting me. You just have to."

He was right. Rebecca did have to start trusting him, and there was no more talking about it. It was time to move on, for good. Still she couldn’t help but have those feelings of resentment and distrust in her heart. He had hurt her so badly, but he wanted to forget. He wanted her to forget, sweep all of the past into a corner somewhere and eventually it would go away. Somehow she knew that was what she had to do if she was going to make this marriage work again. It was very hard, but she had to do it. She so loved him and he was right, if he did not love her he would not be there now. It would have been so easy just to walk away. It took more courage to face each other.

Scott had been very busy that spring with the new tracks for the new CD for the band, rehearsals for the tour and the promotional aspects that go along with it all. Most of this was done in Chicago which meant usually a day trip and he could be home that evening or the next morning.

The tour started in May. Rebecca was determined to make this work. For all their planning and concessions what she needed to be was flexible but most of all be there for him. She would have to keep things going at home but not resent the fact that there were just some things that he would not be home for.

Sarah and Treage were still in school through the first week in June but after that they would make every effort to join him on tour. Little league would just have to wait this year. Rebecca had fought so hard to keep these small things normal in her children’s lives but instead she was defeating the real meaning of it all, and that was to keep her family together no matter where that might be.

Only the year before she had looked on traveling with the band a roadblock in the normality of their lives. Now she was seeing it for what it really was. Not only the opportunity to be together but a learning experience like no other, a chance to see the country. How very fortunate that they could do that. Sarah and Treage didn’t mind. It was only Rebecca who felt that pulling them out of sports and activities that they had done before was hurting them, but she was changing her attitude.

Ethan was living in an apartment that spring and summer and had a full time job. He had also become engaged to Lisa, a girl that he had been seeing since his junior year of highschool. Ethan would try to work in as many weekend tour dates as he could.

Kyle was just finishing up his senior year of high school and after all the fuss with graduation died down he would be able to spend some time with his father on the road. Rebecca was looking at that as a good thing.

Both boys were grown now and their relationship with Scott had already changed into that of good friends. Kyle and Scott had slowly healed their own wounds, after all, they were father and son and that relationship also had to be unconditional.

Rebecca and Scott were making this work. It still hurt when he wasn’t able to be there for some of Kyle’s graduation activities like he had been for Ethan, but he would not miss the actual graduation day nor the open house that they had planned for the end of June.

This time there was no fighting on the phone. No trying to make Scott feel like he had abandoned her and the children. Scott never gave her any reason to distrust him. The drinking to escape had long since gone, he didn’t need to turn to drugs for that reason either. The partying as it had been the year before ended. The women that he rationalized needing held no interest for him. Everything was still there, the temptations were always present, but the need was not, and in turn his performances had never been better.

It was late Saturday afternoon, a week following Kyle’s graduation from high school and Scott was back on the road with the band. They were in and around the Midwest area. The concert that night was at a music venue north of the Detroit area and not two hours from where they lived. A big night was planned. This was the concert that Scott’s whole family and all of his friends would be coming to see them perform along with so many other guests that he had invited, a rather large guest list.

Most everyone would be driving themselves but Scott had already secured a large area on his side of the stage for everyone. He would not be able to look into the crowd and see a face that he did not know that evening. The band had performed the evening before in Chicago but Scott did not come home that night. Ethan drove the van taking Lisa, his mother, Sarah and Treage with him. Kyle and some of his friends ended up taking several vehicles and they all met in the parking lot. There was no need to go back stage since Scott and the others had not yet arrived. That gave them all a chance to start partying before the concert.

They never even went back stage right before the show. There would be time for that later. The party of immediate family and the boy’s friends, about thirty-five people, took their seats right up front. Scott did stick his head out once to make sure he saw his family.

Rebecca did love to sit in the front row most of all. She loved to see her husband perform. When he finally did take the stage every tantalizing feeling emerged in her body. She couldn’t help but think him the sexiest man she had laid eyes on. Caught up in the excitement of all of their friends she just let loose and had the greatest time. She knew that Scott feeds off of the crowd and uses everything he has to work the audience, and he was using it so well.

No matter how many times she had seen him perform he did something to her. It was his whole being. The energy that he possessed as he flew about the stage only added to the immense pleasure she took from watching his every move.

She loved the way that his hair bounced off his shoulders when he moved, those dimples when he smiled. the sparkle in his eyes when they made contact with hers, and the way his pants hung so perfect against his hips. She watched his fingers glide over the strings and could almost feel them upon her. She was so lost in him, and he knew it.

She could see they way he looked at her. She knew that glint in those deep blue eyes. Stirrings deep within worked their way up to flush her cheeks as she read his mind. She knew this man all too well.

After the show their whole party made its way to the back stage area. The scene was deafening and crazy. So many people to meet and talk to. Ethan’s and Kyle’s friends were already wild enough on their own and this just gave them free reign. No one cared. It was a great show, it was a great party.

Sarah stayed close to her dad’s side as he moved about the large back stage area meeting everyone he knew. Scott held Treage cocked against one hip most of the time since he knew letting his son down would surly mean that they would be hunting for him later and in the huge crowd that was not something that he wanted to be doing. Rebecca was busy visiting too and she was in the middle of a large group of friends when he found her. Setting Treage to the ground but keeping a firm grip on his hand let out a sigh of relief, "Jeez, he’s gettin’ heavy!’"

They stood chatting with more guests as he and Rebecca shared a few knowing glances.

Scott wasn’t coming home that night. In fact he wasn’t coming home at all for the next two weeks. They were going to finish up on the east coast before he would be home in time for Kyle’s graduation open house. This would be the last time he would see his family until that time. It would also be the last time he would see Becky for two weeks and at that very moment he had a rather large problem that he needed taken care of. She knew it too.

Frankly, she was enjoying this. They were in a crowd of so many of their friends and family yet the way that he kept eyeing her told her that all he really wanted to do was find a place to get her alone. It was very crowded back where they were and she wondered if anyone was even aware of the bulge that had started to form at his groin.

He held her in front of him as they talked to several people and more than once had he ran his hand over her rounded bottom still carrying on a conversation and not missing a beat. She thought he was pretty amazing. Scott had been making little innuendoes softly into her ear for quite a while and she knew that eventually he would crack. She counted on it.

Finally Scott felt that he had spent enough time that he deemed necessary socializing. Locating Kyle in the crowd he stuck Treage’s hand in his big brother’s and instructed Kyle, "Don’t let him out of your sight."

"What?" Kyle eyed him rather annoyed at his request. "Where’s mom?"

"Ah, she’s with me. We gotta go do something." Well, he wasn’t lying.

Scott saw that Sarah had latched onto Lisa right then so she was safe.

Taking Rebecca by the hand he pulled her into a small bathroom that was adjoining one of their dressing rooms. People were milling around all over but at least in these cramped quarters they were alone.

He shut and locked the door behind them. Rebecca just grinned as he turned her around and pulled her into him.

"You think this is funny, don’t you?" he asked knowing that she knew he was suffering.

"Kind of."

He brought his mouth down on hers as his hands slid behind cupping her hips and pulling them into him. His wet tongue danced across her lips and slid between her teeth caressing the top of her eager mouth.

Rebecca reached down and had his pants open before he was aware. Sliding her hand down into the warm recesses she closed her palm around him and squeezed. He moaned softly into her mouth.

His lips found her neck as he now hastily went about unfastening her pants. With one sweep they fell below her knees. Grabbing the sides of her panties he pulled up hard and fast to tighten them between her thighs. She loved the sensation.

He turned her around and bent her over the sink. He brought his lips to her and gently nibbled first one and then the other of the cheeks of her soft, round bottom. Pulling her panties to one side his tongue darted wildly, licking up sweet stickiness that flowed from deep within her.

Sliding her panties off her hips he stood up and felt her warm moist flesh against him as he eased into her. With one quick hard thrust he completed the penetration. Rebecca moaned and held onto the edge of the sink as he grabbed her hair and pulled her into him further. He knew that this wasn’t going to take long. She was aware of a few more fast strong thrusts as his groin slapped into her before she felt him quiver deep inside.

After he withdrew from her she laid against the sink breathless. He sat down on the edge of the toilet and after she had managed to pull her clothes back up he pulled her down on his lap.

Scott looked at her almost laughing. "Thank you."

"Don’t mention it. It was all my pleasure," Rebecca smiled back.

They sat there a moment longer before he said," I suppose we had better get back out there."

She raised her eyebrows and grinned, "What am I gonna do with you?"

By the time they emerged from the bathroom people were already looking for them. They had been missed and Kyle was having a hard time keeping an eye on Treage. He saw them right away.

"Take this kid," he said shoving Treage in his mother’s direction. "Where have you been?"

Rebecca just sort of looked out the corner of her eye at her husband.

Scott caught the glance and then looked back at Kyle, "Ah, we were in the bathroom?" His voiced trailing up slightly at the end.

Kyle caught the hint.

Looking disgusted and appalled, "Oh Jeez! You didn’t?"

His father looked up and anyway purposely alluding to the resent pleasurable encounter.

Kyle knew his parents all too well. Turning to his friends he uttered under a groan, "Let’s get the hell away from these perverts!
