Serena looked at him with mysterious eyes. She lead him on to the little balcony and locked her eyes with his deep blue ones. "Darien.."she said slowly, a smile forming at the curves of her mouth. "We're...going...to...have...a...BABY!!' Darien looked at her steadily, hardly believing what he had just heard with his own ears. Then his face broke into a smile and they both laughed. They embraced each other, tears of happiness running down their pale faces.
Darien stood on a ladder. He was painting the soon-to-be nursery,and Serena was watching. He painted it pink (it would be a girl,Moon Kingdom children are always girls) and stencled bunnies near the top. A cradle sat in the center of the room, a bureau was next to it, and a over-stuffed chair that held several stuffed animals. They smiled at the room, proud of his hard work. Endymion's indigo eyes crept to the enlarged stomach of his beautiful girlfriend, his beautiful wife. Without realizing it, he placed his hand on her belly. Serena smiled and comfortingly grasped it. Suddenly, without warning, Serena cried out, "DARIEN! It's time!"
Little Rini walked through the apartment, nervously. Today was the day she was starting preschool. "Mommy! Can we go now?"
The elegant 19-year old walked to the impatient child. "Sweetheart. You wouldn't want to get there to early,would you?" she asked nicely. Serena tickled Rini under the chin. She giggled, a beautiful giggle that could have only come from an innocent, sweet child's soul.
Serena laughed. "Hold on. Let Moomy get her purse. "She left and went into the bedroom. Suddenly,there was a knock on the door. "Mommy!" Rini called. No one answered. Rini grumbled then pushed a chair over to the keyhole. She peeked through.
It was a young woman.She had misty gray eyes and silver hair. She looked like royalty with her small tiara and sweeping white gown. "Who are you?" Rini asked suspicously. "I'm friends with your Mommy. Can you get her please? "Rini said yes,then ran into the master bedroom.
"Mommy! Daddy! There's a strange woman at the door!" the little one cried. Serena silenced her then hurried to the door. Darien followed close behind.
Serena opened the door. She gasped. "Mother! I...." she trailed off with shock then held on to her mother and sobbed uncontrolably. "Shh, darling. It's alright." the graceful Moon Queen whispered as she held her crying child. Rini looked confused. "Who is that lady? Why is Mommy crying?" Darien wrapped her into a hug. "That, Rini, is your grandmother. Mommy is actully the Moon Princess. Serena looked up.
"Daddy's right. I am the Moon Princess. Your daddy is the prince of Earth. And this," she said, signaling to her mother, "Is the Moon Queen." Rini stared Queen Serenity for a second. "You're my grandma?" she asked slowly. Serenity nodded. Rini laughed happily and ran over to Queen Serenity. She picked Rini up. "You know what, little Moon Princess? I'm going to invite you and your parents back home. Then, you can live on the moon." Rini looked at her parents hopefully. Serena nodded, then they all hugged each other.
Serenity led the family through the Moon Palace and into a large area that looked similar a mansion. "This I had built on for you." the gentle queen said with a warm smile. "There are several rooms with plenty of extra space. "She smiled and kissed each one of them, even Endymion. "My family..." she whispered, tears forming in her eyes. She allowed her tears to flow freely as her new family embraced her, love filling their tender hearts.
