The next thing she remembers is waking up to see Serena's shocked face staring down at me. So, it hadn't been a dream she was pregnant. What was she going to do was all she was thinking about at that moment.
Mina had gone out cold when the Doctor had told her that she was pregnant. Serena had been in shock but, automatically made sense to her after a few minutes. How could have she been so, stupid and blind? She thought to herself. Oh well Mina was waking up, now.
"I'm pregnant?", said more to herself than to anyone. What will she do and how was Andrew going to react. Then, it hit her she was having the baby of man she loved….her dream. She started to cry with tears of joy and said with a smile on her face," I'm going to be Mommy!"
Serena realized that her friend was truly happy. Serena nodded at her friend and gave her a big hug and asked," So am I Auntie Serena, now?"
Mina was laughing, crying, and smiling all at once. She was completely happy. Replying to Serena she said," Of course Aunt Serena!"
Then, came a knock at the door. He had heard all the laughing from next door and was seeing if everything was alright. He entered the room to find Mina and Serena both crying and laughing with the Doctor just smiling at the two girls." Hey guys is everything alright?", he asked curiously.
Mina sniffled and said proudly," Yeah , I'm just going to a Mom!"
Darien's jaw dropped to the floor (practically) and then, he snapped out of it and said,"I'm soo happy for you Mina!" He stepped up to and gave her a hug." Gosh, I'm gonna be Uncle Darien!", he said with excitement. Hmm Serena thought to herself schemingly maybe….NO WAY! her other half said like he would ever think of you in that! you guys are JUST friends she thought. Yea, it was right who was she kidding? oh well, I shouldn't be thinking about my sucky life she scolded herself. This is Mina's moment in the spotlight.
Darien decided he should take them to arcade (where Andrew works at) and Mina give him the good news. "Hey, what about we grab a taxi over the to the arcade and tell Andrew the good news?, he said with a warm smile on his face.
"Yea let's go!", Mina said with a noticeable glow on her face.
She had been silent in taxi ride over. Would he be shocked, happy, scared? She thought nervously to herself. Then, she thought he is going to be shocked but, esatic with joy cause we love each other so much. Serena had noticed that Mina was a little nervous about telling Andrew but, she knew that he would be soo happy. Just to reassure her friend she grabbed her hand and squeezed it and gave her a warm smile.
Darien saw the two happy, chittery girls and thought how great a day it had turned out to be….
They entered the arcade and first thing she spotted him.
"Hey Mina!", Andrew said enthuisically.
"Hey Andrew! I've got some news to tell you..", Mina being cut off.
"You better sit down for this, Andrew.", Serena said.
He gave them both a puzzled look.
Mina took a deep breath in and spatted it out," Andrew, I'm pregnant." And studied his reaction vividly.
His eyes went as big as saucers, his jaw and he uttered," I'm going to be a father?"
Mina glowed and nodded yes.
"I'm going to be a DAD!", he yelled and everyone heard and started hooting and clapping. He stood up and picked up Mina and held her in his arms. Swung her around still saying that he was was going to be a dad. He couldn't believe it, he was soo, happy and he knew Mina was happy cause of that 'glow' on her face. Then he sat her back on the ground and said," Time to celebrate! So, I'm taking the day off!", and walked off to his boss to ask for the day off.
Few minutes later….
"Ok, let's go celebrate, now", Andrew said leading the way.
They walked over to Andrew's and Darien's apartment to celebrate.
In the kitchen she sat with Andrew while they talked about their future. "So, I am going to move in with you and Darien?", Mina asked excitedly but, tired from the very eventful day.
"I want you to move in but, Darien will be living here, too…", he said trailing off.
True she said to herself, but…then Serena could spend more time with Darien she thought devilishly about how she would get them together. Hmm she plotted more to herself silently.
Darien had just finished an important business phone call and had found Serena asleep on the couch. Hmmm I guess TV makes her sleepy he thought to himself. So, he turned off the television, left her to sleep and proceeded to the kitchen to talk to Mina and Andrew. "So, what you guys talking about?", he asked as he entered the room.
Andrew had saw him walk in and wondered where Serena was but didn't ask. "Ah, nothing much just about where Mina is going to live ,now…", he said hinting subtly.
Darien knew that she would move in eventually and they couldn't get their own apartment together. "I wouldn't you being here at all, Mina!", he said proclaiming and giving her a hug.
Mina knew he would let her move in cause her and Andrew didn't have very much money at all combined, Darien knew that. "Thank you, thank you so, so, so much Darien!", Mina said very happily.
Then, they chatted on a few minutes more about this and that when Andrew asked," Where's Serena by the way? Did she leave or what?"
"She's asleep on the couch.", Darien replied flatly trying not to sound interested, too much.
"Oh gosh she's not gonna get up any time soon, I'll tell ya that!", Mina proclaimed with a groan.
"So, what now just let her stay?", Andrew asked.
"If that's ok I'll just call her Mom and tell her that she's spending the night at my house and I'll stay over here with her.", she said quickly. Also adding quickly," If, that's ok?"
"Yea that's fine better call it's ten thirty already.", Andrew said with a yawn.
With that Mina was off to call Serena's Mom.
Darien went to the cabinet and got his car keys. Andrew raised an eyebrow at Darien.
"Ah, just going out for a drive, I'm not tired, yet..", he said in his gruff voice.
Andrew nodded his head in understanding and watched Darien head for the door. It wasn't weird for Darien to go driving late at night he thought it cleared his friend's mind of troubling thoughts. He sighed in tiredness and wait for Mina to return.
"OK, ok, ok don't jump to conclusions Darien", he said to himself. He had left the apartment an hour ago and was trying to figure out if liked Serena as a friend or something else. He had the feeling that Serena didn't like him more than a friend so than, waiting at the red light that he liked Serena as ONLY as a friend. Nothing less, nothing more. Than, he started his way back to the apartment.
***Darien's Apartment***
Serena was having this recurring dream every night for the last two weeks. It started out with her the park sitting with her friends (Lita, Mina, Amy, and Rae) having a picnic. Then, the sky goes dark and monster appears and starts to choke her then, she sees a shining thing on forehead and it transforms her. Then, she's being talked to by a cat. And a dreamy guy in a cape comes to her rescue her from the monster and before he tells her his name, she wakes up.
Darien had just gotten in and had heard someone talking. Then he noticed it was Serena talking in her sleep. It sounded like a nightmare and he tried to wake her up but couldn't…he was worried.
She ran up to the capped man and kissed him and then, opened her eyes for real and swore she saw him. Then, again she fell back to sleep.
Darien closed his door behind him. She had kissed him…but she was dreaming so it must be meant for someone, else. Yeah, he thought to himself and went to bed.
Serena woke up to the smell of Mina's chocolate chip pancakes being cooked. Then, a few minutes went by when she realized that she wasn't at home, "Damn", she said aloud. And sat up and stretched slowly. She plopped into the kitchen and took a seat. And saw Mina was the only one up so far.
Mina turned around to find Serena up already (and before eleven 'o'clock!). She had been up for awhile and had talked to Darien before his morning jog and had decided to make everyone some breakfast. "You're up early this morning, Serena!", Mina said in a sing-song voice.
"Yeah, but my parents are probably going to kill me", Serena said in a sad tone.
"Oh, don't worry, I told them that you were staying the night at my house", she said and flipping a pancake.
Serena's face lit up and said," Really? You did?" Mina nodded her head 'yes'.
Serena stood up and hugged Mina's back as she blubbered over and over," Thank you , thank you, thank you!"
Then, Mina turned around and said," OK, ok you're welcome! Now, breakfast is ready."
"Did I hear you say 'food'?", Andrew said with a smile and went to her giving her a kiss.
Mina blushed and said breathlessly," Yes, you did, so sit down and we'll have breakfast."
As soon as they sat down to eat, they heard the front door close.
Darien closed the front door and immediately smelled pancakes. So, he went into the kitchen and found everyone was wake, eating breakfast.
"Hi, Darien want some pancakes?!?", Mina asked cheerily." Yeah, I'll have some, but I'm going to eat on the balcony cause, I'm all sweaty.", he said and looked at Serena after, he said that.
Serena kept on eating after Darien had given her that weird look. She finished up and got up washed her dish. Then, she went out to the balcony and she asked bluntly," Ok, what was that about?"
"What? I didn't..", Darien started.
"No, something is wrong, here.", she said concerned and stubbornly.
Darien hesitated at first but, told her about her kissing him the night before.
Serena knew that she had kissed someone but, Darien? Gosh, she must have been in a deep sleep." Well, I don't know why I kissed you but, I was having a nightmare…….actually the same one for two weeks, now", Serena said trying to explain herself.
It sort of made sense to Darien but, said," The same dream for two weeks?"
"Yeah, and the weird it seems so, real, too!", Serena said with relief that she could tell someone about, finally.
"Yeah…", Darien agreed.
"You know, please don't tell any one about this, please?", Serena asked sweetly.
"I promise, Serena", he said truthfully.
Then, she realized that this was their first secret to share, together.
Well, the days flew by in a flash and before everyone knew it Mina was nine months pregnant……
Mina sat down, trying to rest her swollen feet and aching back. She had asked Serena to be her coach in the delivery room and was helping her relax before the birth.
"Ok, you relax her. I'll go and fetch you a drink meanwhile, watch some television, ok Mina?", Serena said, breathlessly. She had been so, busy the last month cause the baby was due very soon and Mina needed someone to help her.
"Ok, I'll just watch some cartoons", Mina said, contently. Then, she felt a sharp pain in her belly and just thought it was the baby kicking her bladder or something. Then, she felt the sharp pain again awhile later, and realized that her water had just broke. She spoke in a worried tone and said," Serena my water just broke."
"What!?!? Are you ABSOLUTELY SURE?!?", Serena said starting to panic.
"I'm sure", Mina said quite, calmly.
"Ok, I'm going to call Andrew and Darien and we'll just wait for them…….labor can last hours, as I've told you", Serena said starting to think rashisionally, again. So, she phoned Andrew and Darien, they were on their way so, she coached Mina through her contractions. Finally, Darien and Andrew made it , and out of breath from rushing over.
"Is she, alright?", Darien asked.
Mina was having a contraction and yelled," DO I LOOK ALRIGHT?!!?" And she didn't, she was red-faced, sweating, and trying to get through her strengthening contractions.
"Serena, how far apart are the contractions, now?", Darien asked, worrying that it might be too late to get Mina to the hospital.
"Um, 10 to 5 minutes or so", and realized that this was going to be a home delivery.
"Ok, it's too late to take her to the hospital, now. So, Andrew get some towels and blankets and Serena check if the baby's head is showing", Darien said stepping into Doctor mode.
Serena checked if the baby's head was showing and it was. She said," Darien, she's ready to have this child, now."
"Ok, Andrew got those towels, yet?", Darien said, quickly.
"Yeah, here they are.", Andrew said handing, Darien the towels.
"Ok, Andrew you sit by her and coach her, ok?", Darien said.
"OK", Andrew said and now, sat by the wailing Mina.
"Now, you Serena have to assist me with the delivery, now", he said while sitting in front of Mina. Serena sat next to Darien waiting to get the baby.
Andrew was coaching Mina.
"Ok, Mina now, it's your turn, ok?", Darien said, soothingly.
Through clenched teeth she said," Yes."
After a half an hour of pushing the baby came out. Darien proclaimed," It's a girl!"
Serena was cooing at the baby girl that was screaming but, ooh so, beautiful!
Mina was crying tears of joy just like Andrew, also. She had a baby girl! She was soooooo, happy! Andrew was crying, he had a baby girl!
"Well, Dr. Chiba, you did a fine job, delivering that baby", said Mina's doctor.
"Thank you, Sir", Darien said as he shook the other doctor's hand.
Serena had just finished visiting with Mina and was sitting in chairs taking a break from the hectic day. And started thinking about how great of a job Darien had done.
Darien had just finished talking with the doctor and had spotted Serena sitting in chairs.
He thought about how much he liked being Serena's friend. As he sat down he said," Hectic day, huh?"
Serena laughed, he always had a way to make her laugh. She replied," Yeah, always when I'm around you", she joked. And something always did happen when he was around.
"Ah, I'm that much of bad luck, am I?", Darien joked.
"Nah, now, sit still so, I can take a nap on your shoulder", Serena said.
Darien stayed still and let Serena sleep, she had earned it.
