Description

Some think that starfish are mysterious and unusual creatures because of their spiny skin but there is nothing to be afraid of, starfish are harmless to humans but muscles are a different story. Some sea stars can look like things like the daisy brittle star they look like daisies.

  ABOUT THEIR BODY

Sea stars have a central body disc that blends into it’s radiating arms, or rays. This spiny, five rayed creatures are one example of a very unusual group of marine animals  with a life story different  from that  of  anything else  in the animal kingdom. Also sea stars can be many colors like red, orange, pink, yellow, white, blue, green, tan, brown, gray, black, and purple. The starfish’s long arms can be from 10 to 25 inches long. Most spiny-skinned animals have no eyes but amazingly starfish have a small red eye spot in the middle. They can see light and dark.

RELATIVES

The sea star has many relatives  like the sea cucumber, and irregular sea urchins, and regular sea urchins.

HABITAT

The starfish can live all over the world. If you are looking for a starfish they are usually in rocky places. Also sea stars can swim all the down to the bottom of the sea or they can relaxed and float on top. The Ochre sea star can live any where from Alaska to California. The Ochre sea star can also clime up to the top of the wall and stay there for more then 5 hours. Most  sea stars are in small groups or alone. There is a sea star called Crown-of-Thorns and they live coral reefs.

HOW IT LIVES

If starfish could talk they would probably say that they had a good life. They eat good things like mussels and sea weed, and they have a great view of the sea. There are many ways for a starfish to move. One way is by pumping sea water through their bodies into tube feet. When the water is pumped out, the tube feet grip like suction cups and pulls itself forward. When something falls off (a body part) it always grows back. Starfish can eat any thing and walk any way they want. The sea star can do many different things that we could never do.

CONCLUSION

There are many different symbols for sea but one of the most common symbol of the sea is the sea star. People say many good and bad things about starfish. Like some one may think that they are cute and fun to play with wile others are afraid of them. There is much to learn about starfish and the sea. But hopefully in the future we will know more.
