Penguins are very different compared to other birds in many ways. The fact that they can't fly is the most well known.

Habitat:

  • Habitats range from Antarctica in the south, all the way to the equator in the north.
  • South America, New Zealand, Australia, and Africa support penguin populations.
  • Because they can't fly, penguins live in remote areas or islands with few land predators.
  • Their habitats must offer waters rich with nutrients and food.

Diet:

  • Diets include krill, squid, and fish.
  • Smaller penguins in the south tend to eat
  • krill or squid, but northern penguins tend to eat fish.
