Ghosts, UFOs, Cryptids and more are all found in the Bible!
The word paranormal can be defined as “the occurrence, or perception of, an event without scientific explanation, or other purportedly supernatural phenomena.” Paranormal activity is an encompassing term that includes not only ghosts and hauntings and demonic activity, but also other unexplainable phenomena such as unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and extrasensory perception (ESP), to name just a few. With the proliferation of movies and television shows that in one way or another sensationalize paranormal activity, it is clear that many are indeed fascinated with this realm.
How, then, should Christians respond when we read about supposed hauntings and other paranormal occurrences? Can such activity be found within the written pages of the Bible?
Most Christians shy away from subjects of the Paranormal, sometimes referring to matters of the spirit as occult or satanic. Should we proclaim all Paranormal activity as being un-Biblical and even demonic, or is the Bible surprisingly filled with all kinds of Paranormal activity?
If you were to read, or to hear about, the earth suddenly opening up and swallowing a rebellious family, or a cloud of smoke and fire moving over the ground and leading a nation across a desert, animals talking and supernatural beings moving about on Earth, or a witch calling up the spirit of a dead prophet who actually appeared and spoke to a person in the room, or a chariot of fire suddenly swooping down to earth from the heavens and a living person riding away on it; would you think that such activities were the subject of a documentary on television about ghostly and other Paranormal activity. or maybe one of those unbelievable stories found within the scandalous pages of some tabloid at the check-out counter at your local supermarket?
If so, then you would be wrong. The answer may surprise you, but the above reports come directly from the Bible. This begs the honest heart to ask: “Are the unseen beings and strange events still going on around us?”
