About Me

Welcome to my page. I am an experienced and decorated Marine Engineer, with varied experience in shipyard, ship repair, and on board ships. I also run a consulting firm serving various shipping companies. K.N.G.Reddy, Marine Engineer, Chennai, India. I can be contacted via email as given above. In easier words, I am just a click away.

I am currently the Director of the Center for Maritime Studies and a Professor at AMET University. In this position, I am responsible for all research relating to field of maritime engineering technology at the university, including marine renewable energy. While the concept of renewable energy has been around for decades, marine renewable energy is still in its infancy in India. However, in a fairly short time span, AMET Univeristy and I have been able to grow their research into an area of prominence in India. Apart from multiple research publications in related fields, I was awarded a patent from the United States of America (U.S.A.) and am expected to receive another from the Indian patent office. Both patents relate to generation of renewable energy by optimizing wave energy. Together with AMET University, I intend to prepare India for commercial applications of cutting-edge marine engineering technology. One such application will relate to developments in maritime renewable energy generation based on my patented research.

Previously, I worked at sea with Great Circle, Thailand, NOL, Singapore and ashore at Sembawang Shipyard,Singapore in various managerial positions.

I have previously worked in various organizations at varied levels and have loads of experience which I find to prove helpful in my new profession -starting in May 2006.

My Intent

To help engineers develop the competency required to carry out his/her duties as an Engineer Officer in the Merchant Navy.

To assist engineers in satisfying The Department of Transport's (UK) initial training requirements for entry to DTP Class 4 Certificate of Competency (Marine Engineer Officer) Examination.

To provide the student with a qualification which will be accepted by the Department of Transport as giving exemption from parts of their Marine Engineer Officer Certificates of Competency at Class 2 and Class 1 levels.
