Ripplewing
Ah, Ripplewing. My first fancharacter, and one of the banes of Starscream's existence at the Science Academy. She's a professor, teaching xenobiology and also taking some of the lab sessions - these work a bit like practical homework periods where the students try out what they've learnt where a teacher can keep a watchful optic on them. In Ripplewing's case, though, this involves keeping a watchful optic on those she suspects are trouble. She's stubborn, brisk, acerbic and doesn't hesitate to say exactly what she thinks without regard for people's feelings. The skimmer's an observant one however, and if those she harries actually take notice of it they would realise that she says the perfect thing to get them up and moving. With our Starscream, however, she's reminded of the time she spent as a medic in one of the outdbreaks of the Great War and is a little too snippy and judgemental. She's a good person to have as a friend, but don't expect a shoulder to cry on. Ripplewing's a femme that believes in practical solutions to things, and she'll do it herself if she has to. And she likes the cat. We like her. ^_^
Interesting little snippets of Ripplewing trivia...
- She's got pretty long, thin fingers. The femme was a war medic - she needed to get into crushed chestplates and tight spaces in a hurry, so she had them augmented and got used to them. For the record, she doesn't know how Ratchet manages when I showed her an episode with him in it. Started muttering about how wide his fingers were.
- Her name always makes us think of ice-cream, but I honestly didn't have that in mind when I named her. Really!
- Ripplewing was originally going to be this nasty harridan who screeched at people for no good reason. Then she grew a bit, and I got to like her - she ended up saving Starscram's hide - twice, actually - and turning into the wonderful femme we know today. Heh. Wonder if Screamer'd agree with that last bit?
