The Milk Can Kids
The Milk Can Kids is a short Canadian slide
presentation created to help draw public
awareness to the plight of both grandchildren
who are denied access to their grandparents
as well as grandchildren who are
being
raised by their grandparents.
The film was produced in Canada by
Christy's Creationsİ and features original
artwork by Phyllis Proulx of Alberta.
The original artwork began as a touching
project created by Ms. Proulx (a denied
access grandparent) in the Spring of 2002.
Phyllis felt that the online grandparents support
group had helped her through some very trying
times and wanted to give something back in return.
One day Phyllis decided to create a project
representative of the members and purpose
of this group which she had come to rely
upon. Her chosen media was an old milk can,
very symbolic of the missing children ads
on milk cartons. Phyllis painted the milk
can with a refreshingly simple yet artistic
interpretation of the many children that
some of the members were either raising or
seeking access to. You
absolutely must
experience this short film to truly appreciate
how much of Phyllis's heart went into this
project. I think it will be easy to pick
out her own denied access grandchild. I hope
you can sense the depth of our feelings,
especially the artist's, when you experience
the "Milk Can Kids"!
Please note, this may take
a few moments
to load, but I think the wait is well worth it.
