Scene Three
We see Nancy. She is in front of her old house on Elm Street, exactly as it was when she was younger, well-kept. She sees kids playing jump rope and singing "1,2 Freddy's comin' for you…". One girl is playing by herself. Nancy walks up to the girl and kneels down.
Nancy
Hi, what's your name?
Girl
Nancy.
Nancy
Really? That's my name.
Young Nancy
[Giggling]I like your name.
Nancy
Well, I like yours. Why aren't you playing with all the other kids?
Young Nancy shrugs. All of a sudden she looks at the house and starts running toward it.
Young Nancy
I have to go now, my daddy's calling me.
Young Nancy runs to the house and closes the door. Nancy screams and closes her eyes as if to awaken herself from the dream. She opens them and sees the house old and ugly.
Nancy opens her eyes in her bed. She's awake now. Even though she's older then when we saw her before, she's well-rested and her hair's been dyed, making her look significantly younger. She sits up in bed and looks around, as if expecting something to happen. Nothing does. She gets out of bed and goes to get ready for work.
