Apple-Cranberry Brown Betty


4 to 6 med sized pie apples, peeled, cored and sliced,
(I say this because it depends on the size of your pie pan,
the bigger the pan, the more apples you'll need..)
1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries, rinsed,
1 tsp cinnamon,
1/2 tsp nutmeg,

Butter a pie pan well.
Place apples in buttered pan and sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg

Make a crumbly mixture of:
1 cup packed brown sugar
*1 cup flour (self-rising or plain)
1 cup butter or margarine

Sprinkle this mixture over the fruit; bake as any other pie at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes or until apples are tender.
Occasionally gash with a knife through the crumbly crust so the sugar will mix well with the fruit.
Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream!!!
*Try 1/2 regular flour and 1/2 whole wheat flour! Or, try 3/4 regular flour and 1/4 corn meal!!
I like this recipe, because you can be really creative with it!!
Try adding different fruits if you wish!!!
