Most of the time when you ask someone how they are doing, they will tell you they are fine. If everyone is fine, why is the world such a mess?
If only someday I would see an honest man walk down the aisle of a church and address the congregation like this:
"My family life is a wreck. I can't control my appetite. I can't forgive the ones who hurt me. My heart is so full of lust. So I just wanted to invite any of you that feel the same way to come to the altar, because I'm gonna be right here begging God to give me a new heart and make me pure."
Nearly everyone would be on their face before God in tears, if they stopped pretending to be "fine". It would launch a sudden revival. Because real hope for change doesn't come from getting the right people in politics or making the world change their evil ways. But it's "If MY people, which are called by my name, shall humble THEMselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from THEIR wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14
But we don't want revival. We just want church. Because we are doing "fine".
